Young Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has urged the club’s fans to be patient while the players find top gear.

Carlo Ancelotti and his team have come in for criticism in recent weeks over some laboured performances. The latest came in the last gasp win over Levante on Saturday night.

Los Granotes looked to have sealed a famous win when they took a shock 2-1 lead in the 86th minute, but last gasp goals from Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the three points that kept Madrid in third place in La Liga – five points behind leaders Barcelona.

Speaking about the team’s performances in general this season, Morata admitted they had been below par. But he added that once the players know each other better – including the new signings, and once they have fully adapted to the new coach, things will be a lot better.

He stated: “We need a touch of patience. I’m sure we will gradually start playing better. I am very happy – it was a match that we did not start well, but we’ve got through it and we were able to achieve victory. At Madrid, from a young age they teach you to fight to the end.”
