Cristiano Ronaldo has described the 3-0 win over Wolfsburg on Tuesday as a ‘perfect and magical night’ for everyone associated with Real Madrid.

Going into the second leg 2-0 down, Los Blancos had it all to do infront of their home fans. Ahead of the game, the 31-year-old striker had called for Madridistas to create a special atmosphere and make a perfect night for the players.

And the team responded, no more so than the Portuguese himself who netted a sensational hat trick to record a 3-0 on the night and a 3-2 win overall to send Real through to the semi finals of the competition.

Ronaldo took time out after the game to speak to the media and give his thoughts on what had happened.

“The team were great and the supporters too, it was brilliant. They backed us throughout, from start to finish. It was a perfect night. We played very well and the fans support was great, they gave us the encouragement to win what was a difficult game. We’re one step away from making it very far in the competition and we’re very excited and happy,” he said.

Switching his attention to the next stage, Ronaldo admitted he’d like to avoid either of the Spanish teams left and would prefer to face Benfica – who have to overturn a 1-0 deficit tonight at home to Bayern Munich.

He commented: “It’s difficult to go for either Atlético or Barcelona. Atlético defend better and Barcelona are amongst the best in Europe. The two teams are tough opposition. I would like us to get Benfica, a Portuguese side and it would also mean I’d get the chance to go there.”
