New Real Madrid right back Danilo has described his move to the club as a ‘childhood dream come true’.

The 23-year-old joins the Santiago Bernabeu side from Porto, where he spent three successful years. Los Blancos announced mid-season that they had agreed the terms of the deal – 31 million euros – but the player would sign at the end of the campaign.

And the long wait was finally over when the defender was presented to the media and fans in the Spanish capital before taking questions at a press conference.

Asked to describe his feelings, Danilo stated:”I would like to thank God for making me good at football. Thanks to everyone who did everything to make this day happen. Thanks to the fans for their messages and their love.

“This is a childhood dream. It’s certainly one of the best days of my life. I’m going to leave everything on the pitch because I only play to win. Thank you, everyone!”

Danilo will now link up with his team mates and is likely to travel with them to Australia and China on the club’s pre-season tour. His participation had been in some doubt after picking up an injury that ruled him out of the Copa America this summer.
