Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been dropped from the squad altogether for the side’s final match of the season against Osasuna in what appears to be a last act of defiance by Jose Mourinho.

The outgoing manager controversially dropped the World Cup winner in January in favour of Diego Lopez – causing much anger among the fans.

With Lopez missing the final game of the campaign through injury, it was expected Mourinho would finally hand Casillas a recall.

Instead he has left him out of the squad completely, meaning 26-year-old Antonio Adan will likely start with 24-year-old B-team keeper Jesus Fernandez taking his place on the bench.

A number of other high profile players have not been named in the squad, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Fabio Coentrao, Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira and Marcelo.
