Spanish sports journalist Enrique Marques has claimed Iker Casillas is determined to move to Manchester United if he hasn’t reclaimed a spot in Real Madrid’s starting eleven by next January.

“Casillas would like a transfer to Manchester United if he stays as reserve goalkeeper. He and his agents have spoken to Alex Ferguson more than once, and former United manager is in contact with the club directors”, Marques revealed.

“They are excited about Casillas moving to Manchester and Ferguson has told him that. Casillas has always shown sympathy for United”, he added.

The Real Madrid captain’s main objective is to be Spain’s starting goalkeeper in the 2014 World Cup, and he would prioritise a transfer to a team where he can play regularly.

“Ferguson and Casillas believe the move would be possible thanks to the good relations between the English club and Real”, Marques stated.

This information came to light shortly after Vicente del Bosque revealed in a separate interview with Spanish radio station SER that Casillas had told him “he’s got his future almost solved”.
