Inter Milan are about to offer Real Madrid a loan deal for Raphael Varane so the French defender would move to Italy for the second half of the season.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed Roberto Mancini has asked Inter directors to sign a centre-back before the winter transfer window closes, and the Neroazzurri are hoping Los Blancos will be willing to let Varane go.

The 21-year-old has not succeeded to earn a regular spot in the starting eleven and he might be happy to spend a few months at a place where he could be the first choice.

Yet, Los Merengues don’t want to lose a single player as the crucial part of the season is approaching. Plus, with Pepe having recently suffered a rib injury, Varane will pair at centre-back with Sergio Ramos, so he has a good chance to convince Carlo Ancelotti that he’s ready to become a regular starter.

Carlo Ancelotti rubbished talks of Varane’s exit a few days ago following reports of a possible interest from Bayern Munich.

Chelsea are also interested in signing him, as Jose Mourinho is a self-confessed admirer of the Frenchman. Should Varane fail to dislodge Pepe or Ramos for the defence, Florentino Perez will have to convince him to stay, because he will have plenty of offers next summer.
