Real Madrid youngster Jose Rodriguez has been included in the list of most promising European under-19 players. This list has been drawn up by uefa.com reporters at the recent European Championship in this category in Lithuania.

Castilla’s centre-half is the only Spaniard among the ten players named. Uefa.com reporters describe him as a player who “looks the finished article”.

“Real Madrid José Rodríguez is as close as they come, however – the ever-pressing, deep-lying midfielder the fulcrum of much of Spain’s play. Supplied a clever assist for Sandro Ramírez’s clincher against Portugal and converted a penalty against France in the last four”, they say.

The other nine players included in the list are Yassine Benzia and Adrien Rabiot (France), Aleksandar Mitrovic and Predrag Rajkovic (Serbia), Gratas Sirgedas (Lithuania), Avto Endeladze (Georgia), Recep Niyaz (Turkey), Bernardo Silva (Portugal) and Lucas Woudenberg (Netherlands).

Spain reached semifinals of the tournament, where they lost to France 1-2 in the extra time. Serbia won the title with a 1-0 victory over the French in the final.
