There is still plenty of analysis of the European Super Cup today, with the papers looking at some of the individual displays put in by the Real Madrid players.

And grabbing the headlines today is new signing Toni Kroos who put in a master class in the centre of midfield. Marca goes with a picture of the World Cup winner on its front page, and the headline ‘Motor Kroos’. The 24-year-old completed 73 of his 77 passes against Sevilla – a completion rate of 95%. He ran 11.7 kilometres and committed just three fouls during the game.

AS looks at the success of Iker Casillas as captain of Real Madrid and Spain. Much maligned in recent months, and struggling to hold down a place in the first team, the 33-year-old has actually lifted nine trophies as captain since 2008. With La Roja he captained the side to success at Euro 2008 and Euro 2012 and the World Cup in 2010.

As captain of Real Madird, Casillas has lifted La Liga (2012), the Champions League (2014), the Copa del Rey (2011 and 2014), the Spanish Super Cup (2012) and the European Super Cup (2014). Before becoming captain, Casillas had already won 11 trophies in his career.

Finally, Marca says Sami Khedira’s future at the club is now over. With just one year to go on his current deal and no talks happening over a new contract, the club has accepted he will leave. He was not part of the squad for the match against Sevilla – a sure sign Ancelotti is planning for life without the German.
