Real Madrid and Sevilla played for the second time this week at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Los Blancos lost (2-1) in a very difficult match against a very tough team when they played in their stadium. Zinedine Zidane did some changes in the line up. He decided to introduce Nacho in the defense instead of Lucas Vázquez with the goal of controlling the midfield. Real Madrid played with five defenders for the first time in the current season. Sampaoli also changed his formation. He introduced two stoppers in the midfield (Iborra and N’Zonzi) and they played with four defenders when they usually play with five.

Los Blancos started very good the match playing with a high pressure and with a lot of dynamism. Real Madrid controlled the game in the first 30 minutes, having some chances to open the scoreboard and having the ball possession. Casemiro played really good, being the player who was just ahead the defense and behind Modric and Kroos. He stopped all Sevilla attacks and he was the one who gave the balance to the team.

Sevilla started the second half having an opportunity from a shot from Franco Vázquez but Keylor Navas prevented the first Sevilla’s goal with a great save. In the 66th minute Carvajal forced a clear penalty and Cristiano Ronaldo was the player in charge of opening the scoreboard. In the minute 75th Zidane introduced Kovacic replacing Kroos in the midfield. The French manager didn’t want to change the formation because Los Blancos were very comfortable in the field. In the 86th minute Sevilla tied the match from an unlucky play. Sergio Ramos head the ball inside the goal. Only five minutes later Jovetic scored Sevilla’s second goal from a long shot from outside the box.

We can say that Real Madrid played a great match but in the last minutes Sevilla attacked successively and they made a great comeback when the match was ending. This defeat means that Sevilla have broken the run of 40 games unbeaten. Now Los Blancos must think in Copa del Rey match where they will face Celta at Santiago Bernabéu.
