Real Madrid maestro Mesut Ozil has urged the club not to consider selling Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese international has been subject of speculation since he announced last year he was unhappy in Madrid, fuelling talk of a switch back to Manchester United.
The impending arrival of Gareth Bale at the Santiago Bernabeu has only increased the rumours, with United believed to be keen on taking him back to Old Trafford, while Manchester City, Monaco and PSG all retain an interest.
But speaking to CNN on Los Blancos’ tour of the US, 24-year-old Ozil said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is very important to the team, just look at the goals he has scored in the past few seasons.
“He’s a great person off the field. I hope he can stay here for a long time because he can help us win important titles.”
