Gareth Bale is fighting this week to get a spot in the next World Cup in Russia with his national team. Wales beat Austria (1-0) and they continue in the race to get the qualification. In the meantime, the rumours about his future are spreading across the United Kingdom, with Manchester United keeping a close eye.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are still interested in the Welshman and they will try to sign him in the future. José Mourinho is obsessed with getting him on board on his project with the Red Devils and he could be the next star in Old Trafford.

Last year, Manchester United signed Paul Pogba, setting a new transfer fee record. This summer they got Romelu Lukaku from Everton, his new star. The next year the idea is getting Gareth Bale in the team, especially if his situation at Real Madrid doesn’t change.

Mourinho admitted publicly this summer that he’s keen to sign Bale: “I’ll fight for him if there is an option”, the Portuguese said before facing Los Blancos in the United States. However, Bale closed the door immediately saying that he’s very happy in Spain and he has never thought about joining Manchester United.

However, the Welshman is facing a lot of criticism in these first weeks of the season where he has not found the net, apart from the easy goal at Riazor. He had to listen whistles in the last game at Santiago Bernabéu while Asensio or Isco are the new idols of the supporters.

There are still many months to change his situation and Bale showed in the past that he’s a great player. He was one of the most important players in the squad when he joined the club, scoring goals in the final of Copa del Rey against FC Barcelona or in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid.
