Pepe: Sergio Ramos loves Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Pepe says Sergio Ramos loves the club and he doesn’t think he will leave.

Ramos has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United all summer with stories of the Premier League side prepared to pay up to 50 million euros for the 29-year-old.

It is thought the World Cup winner is unhappy with Real president Florentino Perez for refusing to put him in the top pay bracket at the Santiago Bernabeu in discussions over a new contract. Ramos still has two years on his current deal with the 10-time Champions League winners.

Speaking at a press conference in China, where Real are preparing to face Inter Milan, Pepe said: “He looks fine to me. Him not being here is something that doesn’t enter any Madridista’s head. He’s our captain and I’m sure that he’s going to stay here because he really loves this club and the club loves him. I hope he stays, because he’s a leader at Real Madrid.”

The Portuguese only has one more year to run on his deal too but said it is in the hands of his agent and the club.

He commented: “I’m very happy playing and training at this club each and every day. My contract renewal is a matter for my agent and the president. I have to do my job well throughout the year and I hope that all together we can win many trophies this season”.
