Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez says his team is taking the Audi Cup seriously as they want to win every tournament they play in.

Los Blancos are in Munich and will face Tottenham Hotspur at the Allianz Arena before taking on Bayern Munich or Milan.

And while the two games are friendlies, Benitez told a press conference they will be an important test for his players.

“For Real Madrid it’s important to win the Audi Cup, just as it is to win every other competition, and we are going to try and do it. Although we know it’ll be hard because we face some big rivals,” he stated.

He added: “Every game is important. We have a great squad and we analyse every game. We have two important matches against very good teams here and both are important for our players.”

Speaking about his overall impression since taking over as manager of the club, Benitez commented to the gathered journalists in Munich: “My first impressions are excellent, I have a great team with fine players. You can see how they train, they’re very competitive. I’m delighted, from the very first moment we’ve seen the desire the players have to win things.”

  1. If Real Madrid refuse to sign De Gea as their # 1 goalkeeper this summer, then they have to reconsider their bid for La Liga and Champions League. Casilla and Navas are good and i have a serious respect for them, however i insist and predict that with David, Real Madrid will be half way of the Champions L. and La Liga titles.
