Carlo Ancelotti has said he wants his players to keep up the winning run when they play AC Milan in Dubai, but he won’t run them into the ground this week either.

Los Blancos take on the Seria A outfit in a glamorous friendly in the UAE while on their winter break from La Liga action. The team is currently on a 22-game winning run in all competitions, a new record in Spain that has seen the side reach the top of the table and qualify with ease from their Champions League group.

Speaking to the press in the Middle East, Ancelotti said he wants his players to get as much rest as possible during the winter break as there are many challenges that lie ahead. But he added he wants the team to keep winning and stay match sharp.

“Winning breeds more winning. That’s the secret. I’m not going to run the team into the ground this week. They need rest. We know the team are doing well and have accomplished something that had never been done before, so we’re in high spirits. We’re happy with what we’ve achieved, but we know what’s to come will be tough. The team are ready for that,” he stated.
And he added: “We’re going to be well prepared for the tough January we have in store. This match [against AC Milan] will serve as a warm-up. The players who have travelled will play. We’re going to enjoy Dubai and the good weather and play a good match.”
