Zinedine Zidane was full of praise for his son, Enzo Fernandez, who was called up to represent France at Under-19 level.

The young midfielder, who currently plays for the Juvenil A youth team, was born in France and became a Spanish citizen in 2006. In 2009 he played for the Spanish Under-15’s.

But Enzo has since had a change of heart and instead chose to represent France, something that his father was pleased to hear.

“I am proud that he can wear the French jersey for the first time,” Zidane told RMC. “He wanted it and he deserves it, it is not only because he is called Zidane, because he does beautiful things on the pitch.

“In any case, he is delighted to be picked and I am as proud as my father was when I was first selected,” the Los Blancos assistant coach concluded.

The 18-year-old is a tall, well-rounded midfielder who enjoys taking part in all areas of the game and will still be eligible to represent Spain in the future.

Enzo has three younger brothers including Luca who played between the sticks for Real Madrid in the Al Kass International Cup in Doha, Qatar.
