After the terrible defeat at Eibar, Los Blancos needed to bounce back in La Liga to put some pressure to the leaders. It was a tough game against Valencia, a good team although this year they are not showing their be level. And Los Blancos had a good performance, especially in the first half, and they got the three points (2-0).

Marcos Llorente started again as a stopper, with Reguilón as left back and Dani Ceballos in the midfield, both replacing Toni Kroos and Marcelo. It was a brave a line-up because Santiago Hernán Solari is showing a lot of personality and character as Real Madrid manager. Isco was this time on the bench and he had some minutes. It’s important to bring him back to the team.

As we commented, Real Madrid played quite well in the first half. Dani Cavajal was one of the best players in the game and thanks to him arrived the first goal. He fought the ball in the box and gave an assist, but Wass introduced the ball in his own goal. Los Blancos could score more goals in the first half, but Neto saved it.

The second half was completely different. Valencia could have got the draw but Thibaut Courtois showed once again that he is one of the best goalkeepers of the world, with all due respect to Keylor Navas. Santi Mina, Batshuayi or Gabriel Paulista could have found the net, but they missed their chance. In the last minutes of the game, again Dani Carvajal lead a counter attack, and Lucas Vázquez finished it after another assist from Karim Benzema.

The French striker was one of the best footballers of the game and he received the applauses from the supporters. Karim Benzema has been heavily criticized in the last years, but this season he is the one stepping up after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. It is fair to say that the team needs to improve, but they are in the correct path.

There were two big surprises in Rome. Marcos Llorente started a game for the very first time this season -apart from the one in Copa del Rey- and Isco wasn’t included in the list, even if he travelled with the team. So quick rumours triggered and spread about what could have happened with the playmaker. A lack of respect toward the manager and the colleagues could be behind Solari’s decision.

Isco hasn’t started a game with Santiago Hernán Solari after six games, five of them were won by the team. According to some reports, after the terrible match in Eibar, Isco didn’t want to shake hands with Solari. Isco started the game on the bench and played 30 minutes, but he couldn’t avoid the great defeat. The last game he played from the start was El Clásico, with Julen Lopetegui on the bench.

Julen Lopetegui was the only coach in Real Madrid that had trust in Isco. With Zinedine Zidane, Isco struggled to get in the starting eleven. Finally, he convinced Zizou, but he had to work hard. This year should have been his most important season, taking the lead of the team, but just like his friend Marco Asensio, there is no news of Isco. He has only scored one goal in La Liga -against Athletic Club- and in the Champions League -against AS Roma-, and his importance in the team has been decreasing all along these months.

Solari took the decision to put him on the bench, just like Marco Asensio. No one can say that he has been unfair towards these two players, who are being making terrible performances this year despite the many chances given. Besides, some journalists and even colleagues commented that Isco doesn’t train very well and he doesn’t put many efforts in improving in the day-to-day work.

Now Real Madrid face Valencia at home, in a very difficult game, and Melilla in Copa del Rey. Perhaps, Isco can have the opportunity to change his attitude and performance in the Copa del Rey fixture. Real Madrid and Solari cannot allow to miss such an important player. And Isco needs to change his situation as well. For the common well-being, this situation needs to be sorted out.

Real Madrid accomplished all the goals at the Stadio Olímpico beating Roma (0-2) in their stadium with the goals of Bale and Lucas Vázquez. Los Blancos suffered but got the three points in a tough stadium. Los Blancos already knew they were qualified before starting the game thanks to Viktoria Plzen victory in Moscow. Both Los Blancos and Roma are in the Last 16 round, but the Spaniards will lead the group.

Real Madrid played quite bad in the first half. Again, the team repeated the same problems, with terrible mistakes from Varane and Sergio Ramos. Roma could take the lead several times, but Courtois made great saves and Under missed a very clear chance just before the half time. Modric could also scored in the first 45 minutes, but the game was quite poor.

In the second half, the team improved. In the first minute, Fazio gave an assist to Gareth Bale, who didn’t miss. We still demand more from the Welshman, but he was decisive at the Olímpico. Only 15 minutes later, Bale gave an assist to Benzema, who put the ball in Lucas Vázquez foot and the Spaniard sent the ball to the net. The game was under control.

In these minutes, Los Blancos found many spaces and the result could have been even bigger, but the counter attacks weren’t finished properly. Los Blancos have won 70 out of the last 100 games in Europe. Amazing stats for the best team in Europe. One season more, Los Blancos will be in the final stages in February. Then, everything could happen.

Real Madrid played the worst game of the season on Saturday at Ipurúa. Los Blancos were thrashed by Eibar (3-0), a small club from Basque Country that only five years ago didn’t even dream to play in La Liga. However, they started the game pressuring, choking Los Blancos, who were asleep, still thinking in the international break, the next clash in the Champions League or who knows why.

This was the worst game of the season -and the ranking is very tough given the terrible games played so far-, but this is not something new. Since Zinedine Zidane was able to win La Liga title two years ago, Los Blancos haven’t found themselves in this competition. Last season, they finished 17 points behind FC Barcelona, something unacceptable. But the numbers are getting worse now.

In the last 51 games in La Liga, Los Blancos have been able to win the 55% of them. So to say, they have won 28 games, with 12 draws and 11 defeats. In this time, FC Barcelona have got 21 points more. The main problem is the defense, having conceded 60 goals in this time, with Atlético Madrid conceding only 30.

Luckily, the team was able to win another Champions League during this time, but it looks quite clear that the players are not focused in the everyday competition. At Eibar, players didn´t run, push or try even to win the game. Solari included the most important players in the line-up and they showed him that they didn’t want to play that game.

At least, this season has been very tough in La Liga, and also FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid are being unable to get a good run of results. Sevilla are now leading the table with 6 points more than Los Blancos, who have only won 6 games so far, whilst 7 finished with a draw or defeat. Florentino Pérez has already changed the coach, should Solari change the footballers?

James Rodríguez is not happy at Bayern Munich with his new manager, Niko Kovac. The Colombian playmaker is not having many minutes and he’s already dreaming about going back to Madrid, where he spent three years with sweet and sour moments. However, Los Blancos should take advantage of the situation and tie him up for the next season as there are not many players in the market with his quality.

During last summer, rumours were triggered about Real Madrid bringing back James Rodríguez even if he signed a two-year loan with Bayern Munich. His good season with the German club and Julen Lopetegui’s interest made this situation possible. Besides, James Rodríguez came back to Bernabéu and he was cheered by the supporters when Heynckes substituted him in the Champions League semi-finals even if the Colombian scored one goal and was one of the best of his team.

The deal couldn’t be sealed and both parties suffered. James Rodríguez is not having many chances with his new manager and Los Blancos are struggling in this start of the season. It’s sure that James would be appreciated in this squad, especially after the poor performances showed by Isco or Marco Asensio.

James Rodríguez has only played 8 games in Bundesliga with 472 scoring three goals. Last season he played 23 games and he was a very important man for Jupp Heynckes. He couldn’t shine in the World Cup with Colombia as he did in Brazil because of an injury. However, his quality is out of question and few players can give more to Real Madrid than the playmaker.

James signed a contract until 2021 with Real Madrid. For this reason, Florentino Pérez is not in a rush and can keep him in the team in the next season. Having a look at the market, there are few players better than him and his return to the Spanish capital would make happy the player and the supporters. But Juventus have already shown some interest on him and Jorge Mendes is always unpredictable and eager to send his players to the “Vecchia Signora” as he did with Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

Vinicius Jr.is stepping up in the world of football little by little. He’s been shortlisted for the Golden Boy Award, given by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport on the 17th of December. This prize is for the best footballer under 21 and he has four other rivals to win the award: Justin Kluivert (Roma), Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax), Patrick Cutrone (Milan ) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool).

The last player who won the award was Kylian Mbappé last year and two other Brazilians were able to win the prize: Anderson and Pato. Besides, we have one player in the Real Madrid squad with this award in his house. Isco won it in 2012 when he was still playing for Málaga.

Vinicius Jr. is improving little by little. The arrival of Solari to the first team has opened him the doors to the games. With Julen Lopetegui, Vinicius didn´t have many opportunities with the first team and had to play with Castilla. It’s also a normal situation for a young player just arrived from Brazil. However, now he looks confident and playing better than ever for Los Blancos.

He was called by the Brazil U-20 national team in the international break and he spoke with Globoesporte about his situation at Real Madrid: “Not me, my family or Real Madrid staff imagines this start. We went to Spain to adapt ourselves in this first year, but we got it very quickly”.

“I started with Castilla but now I’m having more minutes with the first team. I’m happy for starting and taking the opportunities offered by Real Madrid”, said the Brazilian, whose friends in the team are Marcelo and Casemiro.

“It’s a different game. In Castilla they helped me a lot to get to the first team. I’ve been called to the list always with Solario and I’m having more minutes”, said Vinicius.

Marco Asensio said this week in an interview for the Spanish TV broadcaster Movistar that he cannot be blame by the situation of the club because there are other players with a higher status who should be leading the group. It’s absolutely true that Asensio is not the highest earner in Real Madrid squad and he has not been shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or award. Therefore, he cannot be considered one of the Real Madrid stars, but the club and the fans have put on him many expectations and he is not replying to them, perhaps for this lack of ambition showed in his speech. After many opportunities with Julen Lopetegui, Solari has decided to put him on the bench due to his performances. There are no excuses: only 2 goals this season in 17 games in all competitions.

Real Madrid didn’t sign a star in his position because they believed in Asenio’s skills and didn’t want to block his development. Eden Hazard, one of the best players of the last World Cup, said several times that he wanted join Los Blancos. The Belgian playmaker has similar characteristics to Asensio, so his signing was dismissed. Besides, when Cristiano Ronaldo was sold, the bosses believed that Marco Asensio could take more responsibility and play in the attacking line with freedom, arriving more to the goal.

However, we haven’t seen this so far this season. Asensio started the last games on the bench, and even didn’t have minutes in the last Champions League clash against Viktoria Plzen. Marco Asensio shone in the last season with stunning performances. He scored a brilliant goal in the European Supercup against Sevilla and two more goals in El Clasico in the Spanish Supercup. Besides, against Bayern Munich or Juventus, in the Champions League final stages, he shocked the world with amazing performances. All this has gone, by now. It is now made official by the club. Santiago Hernán Solari is the new manager of Real Madrid until 2021, two year and a half of contract. News agencies like AFP and Reuters have informed that the club has spoken already with the Spanish Federation, because a coach could only be temporary in the position for 15 days, time that expires now, in the international break.

There is now a press release, but Real Madrid have already included in their website Santiago Hernán Solari as manager. Four victories in four games back his work. Besides, Florentino Pérez is very happy with his decisions: Using Vinicius, count with Thibaut Courtois as main goalkeeper, and also putting in the line-up signings with future like Dani Ceballos or Álvaro Odriozola.

On the other hand, there are two players who shouldn’t be completely happy: Isco and Marco Asensio. Both started the last game against Celta de Vigo on the bench and the former Málaga player didn’t even participate. However, they should be more worried about their performances in the pitch rather than on the coach. Santiago Hernán Solari´s job was on the edge at Balaídos and the new Real Madrid coach passed the exam with top grades. Los Blancos won their fourth game in a row in all competition shortening the gap with FC Barcelona, that lost against Betis (3-4) at home. Karim Benzema was the star of the game again, shining against (2-4) Celta de Vigo in a tough and violent match.

It was violent because up to three Real Madrid players got injured due to the risky game played by Celta footballers. Casemiro was the first one to fall, substituted by Dani Ceballos, who played as a stopper and he is growing up with every game played. Nacho Fernández and Reguilón couldn’t also finish the game, so Javi Sánchez and Lucas Vázquez had to defend the result at the end. Besides, Bale had a swollen ankle and had problems during the whole game.

It was a tough game in every sense. Roncagla could have scored first for Celta de Vigo but his header went directly to the post. Then, Benzema’s show started, with dribblings, slaloms and playing football like no one else. He scored the first one in the 26th minute after a great control and assisted Toni Kroos just right after, but the German midfielder missed the chance.

In the second half, Benzema invented a new dribbling in the box and the ball ended up touching the net after a lucky touch from Roncaglia. However, Celta reacted quite quickly and Hugo Mallo opened the scoreboard for his team. Odriozola fell in the box and Sergio Ramos didn’t miss again from the penalty spot, in a Panenka style. The game was over, but Dani Ceballos had time to score a great goal from outside the box. Brais Méndez scored the last goal of the game in the injury time.

This is a great result that backs Solari’s job. The Argentinian will continue as top manager after the international break. Now Los Blancos are only four points behind the leaders, FC Barcelona, who have to face Atlético Madrid in the next game. La Liga is completely opened and everything can happen. This team wasn’t that bad as Lopetegui´s results showed us.
