PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says his side is ready to take on Real Madrid in a mouth watering Champions League clash this week.

Laurent Blanc’s men host the 10-time winners of the competition in the French capital in a game that could go a long way in deciding who finishes in top spot in the group and avoids a potentially tougher last-16 draw.

The Ligue 1 champions warmed up for the game with a 2-0 win over Bastia at the weekend, with former Barcelona man Ibrahimovic grabbing both goals to ensure PSG remain unbeaten after 10 games.

Like Rafa Benitez’ men, PSG after also unbeaten in the Champions League having picked up two wins from two in their opening games.

Speaking to Sport24, the 34-year-old stated: “It’s a good result against Bastia, because we have beaten a difficult team to play against. We remembered our bad result here last season, but today we took the three points and continued our effort to win titles.”

He added: “Wednesday’s game against Real Madrid will be completely different. We will play at home against one of the best teams in the world, it will be fun to play. Now we can focus on that and we are ready for them.”

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has said talk of him leaving the club over the summer to switch to Arsenal made him laugh adding he had no intention of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

The France striker was subject of interest from the 12 time FA Cup winners although a concrete bid never materialised.

It is not the first time Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has tried to lure his compatriot to north London having attempted to sign him when he left Lyon for Los Blancos in 2009.

In an interview with Journal du Dimanche, Benzema said he laughed about the speculation with his brother and added he never wants to leave Real Madrid.

“Like every summer, I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours. In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why I would leave? I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it’s that simple,” he commented.

Benzema has scored six goals in as many games for his club this season but missed the win over Levante at the weekend through injury. He will also sit out this week’s Champions League clash with PSG with a hamstring strain picked up on international duty.

Real Madrid youngster Marcos Llorente says he is delighted to have finally made his official debut for the club.

The midfielder, who normally features for the Real Madrid Castilla side, took part in this summer’s tour to Australia and China and got plenty of exposure within the first team set up.

And on Saturday he made his first appearance for the club in an official game coming on as a 77th minute substitute for Mateo Kovacic in the 3-0 win over Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking after the match, a glowing Llorente said he was delighted with how things had gone and thanked the first teamers for being so welcoming.

“I am very happy. I had already played in several games during the preseason, but today was my official debut and I am very happy with how my teammates treated me. I want to thank the coaching staff for the opportunity,” he said.

And he added: “There are always nerves at the start but when you get on the pitch you just feel like any other player. I played like I always play for Castilla and things went well. Whenever we play the fans really help us and I was surprised when I came on how much that really encouraged me.”

Rafa Benitez says his Real Madrid team is on the right track but can still improve after watching his players beat Levante on Saturday.

Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese Rodriquez all scored in the 3-0 win, which was all the more pleased because the side contained plenty of academy products in the absence of the senior players out injured after picking up problems on international duty.

Speaking to the press after the match, Benitez said he was pleased with what he’d seen and that the players are doing the right things – scoring plenty and conceding few.

“We know that we’re a potent team up front and that it was important to open up the game. The 3-0 scoreline is a reflection of our identity as a team: we’re potent up front, we create good attacking positions in and around the opposition area and score goals without conceding them, thanks to the work we do as a team and Keylor Navas’ saves,” he commented.

Asked if his team can improve further, Benitez said he’s always looking to make them better, but doesn’t want opposition to know in what aspects.

“We’re on the right track. There are three or four attacking and defensive aspects that we could improve and we’re working on that; I’m not going to give away too much for our opponents. But if the other team manages to hurt you, if you’re able to score goals you can win games. To win games and so to win trophies, what’s important to me is that we continue to create good attacking positions in and around the opposition goalmouth and that the other team carve out fewer and fewer chances.”

Real Madrid full back Marcelo says picking up three points against Levante was the most important thing on Saturday but he enjoyed scoring his goal.

The Brazilian netted the opener before Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese Rodriguez got on the scoresheet in a straightforward 3-0 win.

Los Blancos went into the game missing a number of first team stars who had picked up knocks on international duty. And speaking to the media afterwards, Marcelo hailed those who stepped in.

“I am happy with the goal but the most important thing is the three points. It is difficult because there are a lot of injured players, but we have to play for the national teams because we are called up and we also have to play with Real Madrid, and that happens at all clubs,” he stated.

And he added: “Jesé did well, he helped the team a lot, he ran and scored a goal. Everyone deserves game time and anyone that plays has to run and help and whoever deserves it will play; Danilo has incredible quality and is going to work a lot with Carvajal. We have very good full-backs.”

He also went on to thank the fans, adding it’s always amazing when they sing his name at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I am very happy, I always try to play with joy and motivation in order to make the fans happy. It is really joyful to hear them chant my name. The celebration is something that we do when we are happy. Today was a difficult game and we are aiming to win the games on Wednesday and Saturday.”

Real Madrid right-back Danilo confessed he was not completely fit to face Levante in La Liga but admitted he is happy for having help the team get three points.

Despite having recently recovered from an injury, Danilo have to feature in the starting eleven due to Daniel Carvajal’s absence and he did a good job contributing to keep a clean sheet.

“I finished the game tired, but I’m happy for coming back and helping my team-mates win this game. Obviously, I was not completely fit because I had only completed two training sessions, but I’m happy for giving my best,” he told the journalists after the match.

Asked about the competency between Carvajal and him, Danilo said “Carvajal is a great player, one of the best full-backs, and that is why we play at Real Madrid, a club that has many great players in many positions.”

“It is always good to have this competency. We work hard and the manager is the one to decide who will play in every game. I hope to train more and rest to be prepared for the game in Paris,” he added.

Danilo admitted their main goal right now is to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League: “It will be a difficult game against a great team. If the manager needs me for this match, I will be ready to help.”

The Brazilian also praised countryman Casemiro, who put in a superb performance against Levante: “Casemiro is a great player, he gives us security. When he is in the field, he helps us a lot.”

Real Madrid home-grown defender Nacho Fernandez confessed the team is very happing for beating Levante 3-0 in La Liga, but specially for keeping one clean sheet more.

The centre-back played a great game replacing Sergio Ramos and he was very satisfied: “It was an important match because our last games home had not been good. We played a good game and we managed to keep a clean sheet, so we are very happy for all this.”

Yet, the 25-year-old admitted they didn’t perform at the expected level in the first minutes: “It is true we started the match a bit relaxed, but they didn’t have clear chances to score. We got better and at the end this is a very positive result for us.”

Asked about the superb performance Keylor Navas put in, Nacho said “he is there to make saves and he is doing great.” “It is a pleasure to have him on goal, because he gives us security. We hope he will continue like this because that will be a good sign for Real Madrid,” he added.

Nacho also assessed Jese Rodriguez’s performance, as the winger scored a brilliant goal coming in from the bench: “He might not get the minutes of action we all want to get, but he’s been a catalyst, he has scored and we’re happy with him.”

Rafa Benitez confirmed his youngsters and the new signings will play a very important role this season as Real Madrid eased past Levante with many of the regular substitutes in the starting eleven.

Casemiro, Mateo Kovacic, Nacho, Danilo, Lucas Vazquez and Jese Rodriguez proved their value and helped their team earn a victory that sees them reach the top of the table.

Goals from Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese made the Santiago Bernabeu fans enjoy a win after two consecutive draws in La Liga.

Levante were very intense at the start and they threatened their rival a couple of times, with Deyverson missing a good chance to open the score as he fired a defective shot inside the box.

When the Santiago Bernabeu fans were starting to get nervous, two terrible mistakes from the visitors gave Los Blancos a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Right before the half-hour mark, Marcelo stole the ball in midfield, played a one-two with Ronaldo and fired into the bottom corner. Three minutes later, Jose Mari lost the ball in front of Kroos, who played in Ronaldo, and the Portuguese slashed a powerful shot from 25 metres to make it 2-0.

Just before Ronaldo scored his sixth goal in La Liga, Levante could have levelled as Deyverson sent a brilliant header to the bottom corner, but Keylor Navas made a miraculous save proving he is in spectacular form.

Real Madrid played more relaxed in the second half, and Benitez even allowed himself to rest Gareth Bale after the break.

Levante never gave up, but Keylor Navas put in a superb performance to get another clean sheet this season. The Costa Rica international has only conceded two goals so far.

Jese Rodriguez came in with twenty minutes to go and he made a big impact, becoming a nightmare for Levante’s defence and scoring an impressive goal. With eight minutes to go, the Spaniard received the ball inside the box, dribbled past a defender and flicked an effort into the top corner.

Real Benitez has called on his players to go out and put pressure on Levante on Saturday afternoon.

Los Blancos resume La Liga duties after the two week international break and have a somewhat injury hit squad after a number of players picked up knocks while away. Karim Benzema picked up a hamstring problem while Luka Modric and Daniel Carvajal also returned with fitness issues.

But the boss said whoever plays needs to show intensity against a well organised opponent.

Speaking at his press conference, he stated: “We’ll have to put pressure on Levante from the very first minute because they’re a well-organised side, they play with intensity and have a clear game plan. The key is to play with speed, precision and patience”.

“Their manager is a strong tactician. In Barcelona they kept things tight during the first half, and made it to the break with the score level at 0-0. Our players need to clearly understand that we have to play with speed and consistency and try to get an early goal to open things up.”

Speaking about the injury situation, the manager said there is little that can be done, and as a big club, Real are more at risk of injuries because so many players get picked for their countries.

“Teams that play one game per week also have lots of injuries to deal with. 57% of our players’ muscle injuries occur when they’re with their national teams and there’s very little we can do about that. There’s no way of controlling injuries sustained from knocks either. For the top sides the risk of injury is greater because there are more players and more chances of injuries being picked up. All we can do is try to manage the situation.”
