Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said central defender Pepe is not for sale amid reports that Manchester City could be considering a bid.

The 30-year-old is believed to be high up on the list of potential signings wanted by Manuel Pellegrini, who is expected to take over at the Ethihad Stadium in the near future.

Reports have also suggested Chelsea may also consider a bid for the Portugal international now that Jose Mourinho has been installed as the manager at Stamford Bridge once again.

But speaking to Onda Cero, Perez said Los Blancos are intending on keeping Pepe, along with their other star players.

He stated: “Pepe is for for sale and will not move this summer, at least that’s my opinion.”

He added that Ronaldo and Iker Casillas both had futures at the Santiago Bernabeu too.

Italian giants AC Milan are preparing a big to take Kaka back to the San Siro after Silvio Berlusconi said he wanted the Brazilian to return.

The playmaker signed for Real Madrid for 67 million euros in 2009 from Milan, but has largely failed to live up to expectations.

This season he played 27 games in total, scoring four goals and providing five assists.

According to Corriere dello Sport, 76-year-old Berlusconi made it clear Kaka was high up on his wish list when in a meeting discussing the future of manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Kaka recently admitted he may seek a new challenge after four years in the Spanish capital and he is keen to play regularly in the year building up to the World Cup in his home country.

The two main Madrid sports newspapers put their focus in the negotiations between Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo for the renewal of the Portuguese’s contract with Los Blancos.

Marca claims Ronaldo will get “the contract of the Century”, earning around 18 million euros a year plus 100 per cent of his rights of image -he now gets only 60 per cent.

On the other hand As states that four other clubs are interfering in the negotiations: “Both Manchester clubs, Monaco and Paris Saint Germain are asking Ronaldo not to renew his contract and offer him 60 million euros for signing in 2015”.

As also claims that Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival to Real could be announced between today and tomorrow.

The Madrid daily highlights as well that Los Blancos legend Raul Gonzalez will come back to Madrid for a match after Real reached an agreement with his team, Al-Sadd, to play Santiago Bernabeu’s tournament this summer. “He will play one half with each team”, As reports.

Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has aimed a parting shot at Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the Portuguese forward “thinks he knows it all” and “can not handle criticism”.

The 50-year-old boss, who left Madrid after a three-year stay to rejoin former club Chelsea, spoke on Spanish television show Punto Pelota in which he revealed a rift between him and the star striker.

Ronaldo, who signed for Madrid in 2009 for a world record 95 million euros, reached the 200-goal landmark for Los Blancos in just 199 games.

Mourinho said that while Ronaldo was one of the best players in the world, he had tried to coach him to make him even better, but was shunned in his attempts.

He stated: “I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic, which was when a coach criticises a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what in my view could have been improved.

“And at that moment he didn’t take it very well because maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him to develop more.”

“Real Madrid players are very selfish” and “have let Jose Mourinho down” according to Alvaro Arbeloa, who gave an interview to Spanish television channel La Sexta during the Confederations Cup preparation.

“I will always defend Mourinho because he’s given everything for this club, and only to be slapped. If anyone doen’t see it that way, he is being unfair”, Arbeloa said.

The Spanish right-back reprimanded some of his team mates: “Mourinho is leaving feeling disenchanted, especially with the players. A lot of us are very selfish and only look after ourselves”.

“Some people don’t like managers like Mourinho, a manager who doesn’t let you relax. I like coaches like Mourinho, I like people who tells things to the face.”

“We have a good group of players and we all have a good relationship but perhaps we lacked maturity sometimes. Mourinho has won wherever he has gone and it is strange that here, having the best squad he has ever had, is where he has won the least”, he added.

Arbeloa admitted he doesn’t think Mourinho will return to Real Madrid in the future and was also critical with his own season: “My performance hasn’t been the best. It’s been my worst season here. It has been very complicated both at professional and personal levels”.

The Spanish defender claimed his sending off against Galatasaray in the quarterfinals of the Champions League reflected that situatoin: “My behaviour towards the referee was improper and was a reflection of my own nervousness and helplessness”.

Jupp Heynckes has announced that he will retire after having won the treble with Bayern Munich this season – Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup. Thus, he has been ruled out as Jose Mourinho’s successor in the Real Madrid dugout having been previously linked with the manager’s job in recent weeks.

Couriously enough, the German coach had already sat on the Bernabeu’s bench. It was in the season 1997/98, when he arrived at Chamartin to replace Fabio Capello, who had won the league at the first attempt with Los Merengues.

Heynckes arrived with a growing reputation thanks to his good work at Tenerife. He had steered the Canaries to qualification to the UEFA Cup in 1995/96, leaving Real out of European competitions, and made the club shine in Europe, reaching the semifinals of the competition against Schalke 04, the winners of the trophy, who eliminated the Spanish club in extra-time.

Heynckes’ started at Real Madrid started brilliantly, with a title and humiliating their historical rivals Barcelona. Los Blancos won the Supercopa hammering Barça 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the impressive form did not last, and Los Blancos did not have a good La Liga performance. They finished fourth, in a time when only the first two teams would qualify for the Champions League.

Things weren’t much better in the Copa del Rey, as Real was knocked out in the first round by Alaves, a third division club at that time.

However, in the Champions League everything was very different. Real Madrid showed an undeniable authority from the first to the last game, and won the European Cup 32 years after his last trophy.

Los Blancos fulfilled their obsession of conquering La Septima after beating Juventus 1-0 at Amsterdam Arena. After having won the most awaited title by the fans and taking in account that Heynckes still had one year left on his contract with Real, it looked like his continuity at Bernabeu was ensured.

But it wasn’t like that, as Los Blancos’ directors never really trusted the German. “It must be the first time in history that a manager is asked if he is going to continue just a few minutes after winning the Champions League”, he pointed out ironically in the press conference after the match.

Heynckes dissmissed after winning the Champions League

Thus, on May 28th 1998, Heynckes worst expectations were confirmed: the president of Real Madrid, Lorenzo Sanz, announced that the German would not continue in the club. “I can’t allow that one match and one goal change the future of Real Madrid”, he said.

Sanz justified his decision with the bad season the team had had. “Hadn’t we won that title, this would have been one of the worst seasons in our history, not even qualifying for the Champions League. Heynckes had a lot of preassure from outside and that he couldn’t handle it”, he said.

The day after, Heynckes, who had rejected the offer to stay as sports director, appeared very disappointed: “If I had told the president during the pre-season that we would win the Champions League, he would have extended my contract for five years”.

Heynckes fired a parting shot against the directors: “I have not been backed by the board. In the last four months I have worked under conditions that any other coach wouldn’t have managed. I could overcome thanks to my experience”.

Seeing Heynckes success with Bayern Munich, many at Santiago Bernabeu wonder today whether the club was unfair to get rid of the German and whether he should have been given more trust to continue his job at Real Madrid.

Aitor Karanka has turned down the chance to follow Jose Mourinho to Chelsea, the Portuguese manager has revealed.

The 50-year-old two-time Champions League winner left his role at the Bernabeu on Sunday and was confirmed as Chelsea’s latest manager on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to Spanish television show Punto Pelota, Mourinho said the pair had forged a close relationship while Karanka worked as his assistant and he was keen to take him to Stamford Bridge.

But while many of Mourinho’s backroom staff will follow him to London, Karanka has opted to remain with Los Blancos.

Mourinho said: “Aitor became one of us. He defended those working for us and the club. I wanted him to continue, but understand his decision.”

Real Madrid’s German internationals Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira have both thanked former boss Jose Mourinho for his part in making them the players they are today.

The 50-year-old left the Bernabeu at the weekend after a turbulent season and confirmed a return to Chelsea on Monday afternoon.

Reports emerged in the closing months of the campaign that Mourinho had fallen out with a number of the playing staff at the Bernabeu, but Ozul and Khedira took to social media to publicly thank their old manager.

The pair were signed by Mourinho in 2010, shortly after he arrived at the club.

On his Facebook site, Ozil said: “Dear Jose Mourinho. Three years ago you took me to Real. In those three years you have taught me a lot and given me a lot of confidence.

“For this, I would like to thank you and wish you all the best in the future.”

Khedira also thanked Mourinho for the impact he had on his career and for looking after him during the tough times.

He stated: “He has always had my back, especially when I was attracting criticism from the press.

“I want to thank him. I was able to develop as a player under him at Real Madrid, and I have also matured as a person.”

Spanish daily Marca puts its main focus on Florentino Perez’s official investiture as president of Real Madrid. “Perez starts his fourth term in charge of Real and he is close to sealing Ancelotti’s signing”, the sports paper claims.

Marca states that Los Blancos directors take for granted that the Italian manager will leave Paris Saint Germain soon and arrive to Bernabeu.

“The other priorities of Perez are Zidane’s appointment as sports director, the arrival of a world-class star and the stadium’s remodeling”, Marca adds.

The other main Madrid sports newspaper, As, claims in its front page that Real Madrid would be willing to bring Raul Gonzalez’s current team, Al-Sadd, as the rival for the Santiago Bernabeu summer tournament.

According to the Spanish daily, the directors would be looking for a date that would fit the Qatar club well.

As also states that Florentino Perez has not ruled out the option of naming Zidane as manager if Carlo Ancelotti finally does not come.

Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has described Carlo Ancelotti as being a ‘great coach’, as the Italian moves ever closer to a switch from PSG to the Bernabeu.

With Jupp Heynckes confirming he will retire frim the game altogether after leading Bayern Munich to the treble, Ancleotti now appears to have the path clear for him to take over at the helm.

After guiding PSG to their first French championship title in 19 years last month, Ancelotti made it known that he would like to leave the cub.

Speaking to ABC.es, Ramos said Ancelotti would be a good fit for Real Madrid.

He stated: “I’m not one to say which I prefer but Ancelotti is a great coach. But I do not decide – club officials will.”

The central defender also spoke about Jose Mourinho’s departure saying the chapter was now closed. He added that he was not surprised at the news the Portuguese boss had returned to his former club Chelsea.

“It is not new that Mourinho likes Chelsea and Inter. He has always opted for them. He returns to the Premier League and I think the Premier League is the competition for him.

“The matter is now closed with his exit. As in big families, there have been good times and bad.”
