Alvaro Arbeloa considering Liverpool return

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa might be set to return to Liverpool, the club where he played three seasons between 2007 and 2009.

The Los Blancos home-grown right-back is set to leave Madrid after the Spanish club have signed Brazilian Danilo from Porto. Real have now three men for that position and Rafa Benitez can only find room for two: Daniel Carvajal and Danilo.

Thus, the 32-year-old has started considering his options. He has had offers from the Major League Soccer, but he believes he can still play at a high level in one of Europe’s big leagues, although here he would make less money.

Napoli have reportedly shown a big interest in signing the Spanish international, but Liverpool have also contacted him and that is an option he is seriously taking into consideration.

Arbeloa has very good memories of his three years at Anfield Road and believes Liverpool are building a strong squad that will aspire to win titles. He knows he would probably have a minor role in the team, but he is still seduced by the idea.

Real Madrid are willing to obtain five million euros for Arbeloa and that could be the main problem for his return to the Premier League. Liverpool would probably seek a free transfer, so Arbeloa will have to convince Florentino Perez to let him leave. Those negotiations could take the whole summer.
