Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa will leave the club next summer, according to claims by a number of Spanish journalists.

Alfredo Duro stated on TV show El Chiringuito that the right-back has decided to look for a new destiny after his relationship with Iker Casillas has deteriorated to a point that its creating a bad mood in the squad.

Various Spanish journalists have supported this theory.

The tense relationship between Arbeloa and Casillas was seen clear last Sunday in the match against Celta Vigo. The right-back was replaced in the second half and he shook hands with all of his team-mates seating on the bench except Casillas. Arbeloa didn’t even look at the keeper.

The former Liverpool man has been very criticised by the fans for his poor performances, and he’s frustrated with his current situation. Especially since Daniel Carvajal has settled as the starting right-back, forcing Arbeloa to seat on the bench.

The 31-year-old has spent the last five seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, making 188 appearances and scoring four goals. He came from Liverpool ni 2009. He grew up at Los Blancos youth teams, but left the club in 2006 to start a successful career in England coached by Rafa Benitez.

Now he could meet Benitez again, as Napoli are the team who have shown the biggest interest in bringing him. Chelsea and Liverpool also kept tabs on him in the past.
