Benzema, Ready for the Derby

Benzema, Ready for the Derby

Finally, Zinedine Zidane has received some good news. Karim Benzema trained without any problem with the group at Valdebebas and he’s ready to play the derby against Atlético Madrid from the beginning. The French striker missed the last home game at Santiago Bernabéu stadium against Leganés and he hasn’t trained in the last 14 days.

Karim Benzema had some muscular problems and his participation in the derby was in doubt. However, finally the French striker could train with the rest of the team and should be ready to start tomorrow. With Álvaro Morata injured, it was the only option for Zinedine Zidane if he wanted to keep the three attackers in front.

Benzema will be together with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the front. Therefore, there are less opportunities for Lucas Vázquez to start the game. The young winger could be a good option, especially to help the three midfielder, all with offensive skills. Zidane has to be careful with the defence because Isco, Kovacic and Luka Modric are not used to defend.

In the training session, we couldn’t see Pepe and Casemiro with the group. So the Portuguese and the Brazilian will miss the derby as it was expected. Sergio Ramos is ready to occupy the centre of the defence and Keylor Navas also came back from Costa Rica and will be in the goal.

If there are no surprises, Zinedine Zidane will choose the following team: Navas; Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Kovacic, Modric, Isco; Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Zidane lost in the only game against Atlético Madrid in Liga. Los Blancos want revenge and keep the good pace in La Liga, where they are top of the table. Barcelona played earlier against Málaga so at the time of the match, Los Blancos could have lost the first position in the table.
