Having spent just two months at Cagliari, the Sardinians have decided to rescind Antonio Adan’s contract.

The former Real Madrid youth player had spent most of the season without a club having been released by Los Blancos in the summer. However the Serie A side have now confirmed the news that Adan has left Cagliari by mutual consent and his contract, which ran until 2014, is no longer in effect..

Adan had reportedly requested the departure in order to secure regular playing time elsewhere. Just a few hours later, Betis announced the signing of the goalkeeper, whose unveiling will take place on Wednesday. The details of the contract have not been revealed.

Speaking to reporters about his move back to La Liga, Adan said: “The main reason I’ve decided to come is the feeling this club gives me. After a game against Real Madrid I got the feeling this was a very big club. I’m hugely motivated.”

Betis lie 17th in the league, and Adan said he hopes he can ensure their safety in the top flight. “I’m aware of the situation that the club is in, but I had to take this step. The important thing is to be realistic. The situation is difficult but the first thing is to give everything on the pitch,” he stated.
