Antoine Griezmann said recently that he would never sign for Real Madrid. The French striker said that because both clubs maintain a great relationship recently and they don’t sign any player for the city rivals. Santiago Hernán Solari, in 2000, was the last player who changed Vicente Calderón for Santiago Bernabéu. He gave the assist to Zinedine Zidane in the famous goal in the Champions League final in 2002.
Now we want to show you some players that could have played at Real Madrid:
Diego Forlán won the Golden Boot when he was playing for Atlético Madrid. He also helped the team to win the Europa League. Real Madrid almost signed him in winter 2011 but Atlético Madrid bosses finally rejected an offer for €18M. Los Blancos finally signed Emmanuel Adebayor in January.
Sergio Kun Agüero
Agüero has been linked with Real Madrid for years. Los Blancos always wanted him but he was a tough transfer move for Florentino Pérez. The president tried to sign him in the summer of 2011 for €45M. Atlético Madrid preferred to sell him to the Premier League and ‘Kun’ finally joined Manchester City for €41M.
The Belgian goalkeeper is still in Florentino Pérez’s agenda. The Chelsea player was given on loan three times to Atlético Madrid and finally went back to London. However, Real Madrid have never forgotten him and might try to sign him in the future.
José María Giménez
The Uruguayan defender surprises everybody with his great performances in the last years. However, this season he’s not having continuity and Giménez has lost his place in the starting eleven for Savic. Real Madrid asked about him but Atlético always said that they will only sell him for the release clause, currently €60M.
He’s one of the best players of the world, helping Atlético Madrid and France to arrive to the finals in the Euro. Zinedine Zidane knows him very well and he will be very pleased if Griezmann finally change the club. However, there have not been real contacts about Griezmann yet.
