Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez says he is happy with his chance to play more football in the absence of established first team stars and wants to prove to boss Rafa Benitez he can be a key player.

The forward featured for Los Blancos in the 3-1 win over Celta Vigo, once again deputising for the injured Karim Benzema.

Reports have suggested Jese was growing frustrated with his lack of minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu and could look for a move elsewhere.

But speaking to reporters on Saturday, Jese said he is happy to get his chance as he’s always wanted to prove himself at the club.

“I’m very happy. I always try to make the most of the playing time the coach gives me, and I feel good and I have to carry on like this. I’ve always wanted to be at Real Madrid and be a success,” he commented.

Speaking about the game, the striker said: “It’s a really important win, because today was a diffcult match against a really good side. We’re very happy. I was expecting a really tough match, harder even than Wednesday’s because of our exertions in that game. We’ve just kept at it without thinking about the others. What’s important is that we’ve won and we stay top.”
