Los Blancos in talks with Nicolas Otamendi agent

Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing Valencia center-back Nicolas Otamendi, Valencian sports newspaper SuperDeporte has revealed.

The Argentina international has had a terrific season in La Liga, helping his side qualify for the Champions League and being picked as one of the two best center-backs of the tournament together with Gerard Pique.

Thus, many European clubs have contacted his agent in the last few weeks, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The player’s agent Eugenio Lopez is reportedly in talks with Los Blancos directors, hoping to reach a satisfying agreement. Otamendi has admitted he wants to move to a bigger club this summer and there is no one bigger than Real.

Valencia’s owner Peter Lim is open to letting Otamendi go if they receive a good offer. The Ches paid 12 million euros for the 27-year-old and selling him for three times that amount would be a great deal.

Rafa Benitez might want to reinforce the center of the defence should Nacho Fernandez leave this summer, as he would be left with only three center-backs –Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Raphael Varane. However, it seems highly unlikely that Florentino Perez will be willing to spend a high amount of money in a reserve defender.

Manchester United have offered Valencia 35 million euros, and there is little chance Perez will match that bid.
