Malmoe 0 – Real Madrid 2 match report: Ronaldo saves Los Blancos in Sweden

Cristiano Ronaldo drew level with Raul Gonzalez as the joint-top scorer in Real Madrid’s history thanks to a brace against Malmoe that gave Los Blancos a 0-2 win. The visitors had plenty of chances, but they couldn’t seal the victory until the last minute.

Rafa Benitez men lead their group of the Champions League tied with Paris Saint-Germain with six points. They will visit the French capital in the next date of the competition.

Los Blancos were well on top from the start, seeing plenty of the ball deep inside the hosts’ half. However, Malmoe had the first two shots on target, but Keylor Navas was brilliant to deny both.

Ronaldo threatened Malmoe twice in the 15-minute mark, but both times Wiland saved his team from receiving an early goal.

However, the stopper was unable to prevent the Portuguese from opening the score after 29 minutes. Isco picked the ball up inside the opposition half and slid a fantastic ball through to Ronaldo. The 30-year-old fired a strike into the corner to make it 0-1.

Right before the break, Carvajal came close to increasing the lead as he latched onto a loose header inside the box and fired a superb volley that came crashing back off the woodwork.

In the second half, Real exerted a higher pressure seeking to score a second goal. Kovacic send a low effort wide of the post and Benzema’s shot deflected off a defender and went out.

Malmoe were down to ten men as Yotun was shown a second yellow card for bringing down Lucas Vazquez and was sent off by the referee.

Ronaldo took advantage of it and sealed the victory right before stoppage time easily slotting in a cross from Casemiro.
