Real Madrid played one of the best games of the season and they thrashed (2-6) Deportivo de la Coruña at Riazor. It wasn’t an easy stadium -Barcelona lost and Atlético Madrid drew- but Los Blancos made an exhibition. Again, the substitutes show Zidane that they deserve more minutes. Especially Isco, again brilliant.

Zidane might think in giving the opportunity in the big games to some of these players. Isco, Asensio or Morata are highlighting every time they have the chance. Kovacic or James Rodríguez show also a great quality when they have minutes. If Modric, Bale or Benzema are not fit, perhaps these are the solutions. Today, they play one of the best games of the season.

The game couldn’t start better. In the first minute, Isco assisted Álvaro Morata, who found the net very soon. It was the best way of starting the game after the doubts in El Clásico. Real Madrid didn’t stop there because Isco and Asensio hit the bar. Germán Lux also saved two clear chances. All this in 14 minutes. In the 15th came the second goal, scored by James Rodríguez. The third came in the 16th but the referee whistled offside, wrongly. It was the perfect storm.

Deportivo could breathe a bit after that, but Los Blancos could open even the gap much more. For instance, Morata had a very clear chance in front of the goalkeeper, two metres away from the goal and he missed it. But football is unpredictable and Florin Andone shortened the gap in the 35th minute. Deportivo could draw the game after a big mistake from Casilla. Just one minute later, luckily, Isco made an amazing play and Lucas Vázquez finally found the net.

Isco, the show must go on

The second half started with Deportivo taking control of the ball and Real Madrid defending. Both were comfortable with these roles, because the Galician team didn’t show up close to Casilla’s goal. On the contrary, Los Blancos could score the fourth goal and Lucas Vázquez had the best chance after a great assist from Asensio, but the former Espanyol player missed it. Isco’s show didn’t finish in the second half as he had the control of the game.

In the 66th minute, the fourth goal arrived. This time was Álvaro Morata the one dribbling the goalkeeper and James Rodríguez tapped the ball in the goal. It was an exhibition of the whole team. Especially Isco, who scored the fifth goal of the game in the 77th minute. Joselu, former Real Madrid player, scored the second one for Deportivo in the 85th with a great header and Casemiro closed the scoreboard in the 87 with a shot from outside the box.

It was a perfect game and Real Madrid deserved even more goals. Los Blancos can show a great quality even with the footballers who use to be on the bench.
