Fresh from doing business with Real Madrid to sign Jose Callejon, Seria A side Napoli are thought to be preparing an offer for Los Blancos defender Raul Albiol, reports have said.

The Corriere dello Sport claimed new manager Rafa Benitez, once a coach at Real Madrid Castilla, wants to boost his defence by securing the signature of the Spanish international.

Albiol, who represented his country at the Confederations Cup this summer, has been subject of much speculation in recent weeks and has been linked with a move to La Liga sides Valencia and Atletico de Madrid.

According to the Italian sports paper, Napoli may struggle to finance the deal given the fact that Albiol signed a fresh five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu last August, and his personal terms may be beyond what they can afford.

Albiol joined Real Madrid from Valencia in 2009 and has made 117 in all competitions, scoring two goals.
