In a normal world, Neymar Jr should end playing for FC Barcelona again. The Blaugranas are tempting the Brazilian footballer, the same one who reported the Catalan club to the justice, but Neymar Jr is willing to go back to Cataluña and play with his friends Leo Messi and Luis Suárez. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are waiting their opportunity to sign him, in case PSG decide to low the price.

The problem is that Barcelona don’t have enough cash to sign Neymar at this moment. The Catalan club has spent already too much money and are unable to give the €160M-€180M that PSG are demanding. For this reason, they wanted to include some players in the deal. However, this is not that easy at the moment.

Phillippe Coutinho has been given on loan to Bayern Munich, whereas Démbélé is injured again and seems unlikely that PSG would accept the French winger while he’s in hospital. Besides, Rakitic doesn’t seem very willing to move to Paris at this moment. So the situation is not that easy for the Blaugranas with only 10 days left to the end of the transfer market in Spain.

Meanwhile, Florentino Pérez is waiting. Most of Real Madrid supporters won’t be happy if Neymar ends up dressed in white. The Brazilian player has sent many times that he wants to play again with the Blaugranas, especially with Messi and Luis Suárez, so he is not very keen on moving to Madrid. After a terrible pre-season, Zidane found his way to involve all the key players and now they are leading the table, with 3 points advantage over Barcelona, who lost on Friday evening at Bilbao.

Zinedine Zidane said in press conference that he count on Bale and James Rodríguez for the season. And the Frenchman didn’t lie because the Welshman started the game and the best footballer of the pitch. If Real Madrid want to achieve great results this season, both will be important because they have the quality needed. Also, Hazard absence helped Bale to find a spot in the line-up, as Vinicius Junior did.

Gareth Bale was very important to start the game in advantage. He gave the assist to Karim Benzema, who opened the scoreboard in the 12th minute. Los Blancos suffered a bit, especially with Odriozola, who was unable to defend his side. Besides, it didn’t help that Luka Modric was sent off, totally unfair again. However, the market works in a different way, and now it’s time to get the most out of them.

For this reason, Zidane was asked about James Rodríguez and his answer gives hope to the playmaker, one of the footballers beloved for the Real Madrid supporters: “He is fit and I’m happy with him being in the squad with us”, Zidane said. It’s just this, a pre-season, a the important tournaments start now, but we cannot forget the terrible moments lived during this summer. They are especially disappointing because we came from the worst season in a decade, with the hope brought for Zinedine Zidane as a new manager and some promising signings. However, it’s impossible to be optimistic at this point of the year.

Real Madrid closed the pre-season with a draw in Roma (2-2), the second during the summer after the one against Arsenal. Before we saw three defeats -Bayern Munich, Atlético de Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur-, and only two victories -Fenerbahce and RB Salzburg-. The team had many problems in the defense line -18 goals conceded-, being the goalkeeper one of the best in the games. Besides, in the attacking line, only Karim Benzema looks sharp.

When making an analysis about the pre-season, the first one to look at is the manager. Zidane looks completely lost, changing the formation from 4-3-3 to 5-3-2 but without success. Besides, he hasn’t given many opportunities to the youngsters, with Kubo, Rodrygo or Vinicius eager for minutes. Zizou is also trusting the veterans, with zero response. Isco, Kroos, Lucas Vázquez, Nacho are totally lost.

And there is no sign of revolutions after last season. Only Eden Hazard is playing regularly, although we all expected more from him. The signings are not adding anything new. Jovic, Mendy or Militao have not played well enough to be hopeful with them. And Zizou is also forgetting some players that could be important like Gareth Bale, James Rodríguez or Mariano Díaz, all of them without opportunities.

With this diagnosis, there is little room to be optimistic. La Liga starts on Saturday at Balaídos against Celta de Vigo and the transfer window is still open, because the team needs a couple more of reinforcement, especially in the midfield. We need to trust Zidane and give him credit, but the results will dictate if all the decisions taken during the summer were accurate.

Los Blancos are not ready to start La Liga only six days ahead of the kick-off. Real Madrid drew (2-2) against Roma in the last game of the pre-season, leaving a really bad balance during this summer with three defeats, two draws and two victories. Besides, the new signings are not shining and the team doesn’t know how to defend. Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois are the best during the games, and this is not a good symptom.

In Rome, Zidane tried again the five defenders line, with Nacho instead of Sergio Ramos, and this is a huge difference. The Spaniard is showing a really poor level, not enough to play at Real Madrid, and was again one of the worst players in the pitch. Militao is far from the level as well, and Marcelo is more dangerous attacking than productive defending. As a result of that, Roma could have scored two or three goals in the first minutes with Under or Dzeko, but Courtois avoided them.

Luckily, Real Madrid was the one taking advantage in the scoreboard. Luka Modric showed up and Marcelo nailed a great goal with the right foot. But Los Blancos were unable to keep the advantage and Roma found soon the draw thanks to Perotti and the Real Madrid defenders. The disaster in the defensive line was evident and Dzeko was doing whatever he wanted. But in the meantime, Casemiro was able to score the second goal with a header in offside. One minute later, Dzeko drew again the game. It would have been unfair for Los Blancos to have advantage at the half-time.

In the second half, Zidane changed the formation and the idea of playing. Valverde and Nacho were removed, and Vinicius and Jovic replaced them. So Los Blancos were playing now with four attacking players, and things improved a bit, although the ideas are still unclear. Jovic and Vinicius had good chances to put Real Madrid ahead of the scoreboard, but they found Pau López. We also had time to see Gareth Bale again for 20 minutes, and the Welshman was one of the best footballers on the pitch. If things don’t change in the market, Real Madrid will need him.

At the end, penalty shoot-out defined the game and Roma got the trophy. However, the most important thing is the image shown, and Los Blancos are not ready. Besides, Zidane doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing, with many changed, both in the formation and with the players. Tests are over and the important thing starts on Saturday at Balaídos, with Iago Aspas waiting to make some damage.

Eden Hazard Has 'Admiration' For Los Blancos

Real Madrid start to wake up in this pre-season and they got the second victory of the summer (0-1) against Red Bull Salzburg thanks to a goal scored by Eden Hazard. Zinedine Zidane changed the formation and it worked during the first 45 minutes, although Los Blancos suffered a lot after the half-time. There are still many things to improve but it’s a start only 10 days before the kick-off in La Liga.

Zidane was able to count on Casemiro, a key piece in this team. The Brazilian started the first game of the summer together with Militao, who made his debut after the Copa America. The manager changed the formation with a line of 5 defenders, something that improved the defense and gave the opportunity to play at counter-attack.

In this way Los Blancos created many danger during the first half. Benzema and Hazard associated with their team mates very well and created many chances, but again there was a problem when finding the net. Only Hazard was able to score a goal, in the 19th minute, his first goal with a beautiful finish. The Belgian player should be the star of the team and Zizou is making all the efforts to find the best spot in the pitch for him.

After the first half, Zidane replaced Casemiro and Militao, and Nacho and Valverde came in on the pitch. But Real Madrid disappeared. Los Blancos didn’t counter attack so easily and were unable to leave their side of the pitch. RB Salzburg had the opportunity to draw the game, but this time the triumph travelled to Madrid.

There are only 10 days left until the start of the season and one friendly game left against Roma. The team is improving little by little, but not enough to be trustworthy at this time. After signing many players at the beginning of the summer -Jovic, Mendy, or Hazard-, timing is running out for Los Blancos. The terrible pre-season results urge the managers to find solutions before La Liga starts. Especially, the squad needs some top players in the midfield, and right now Paul Pogba and Van de Beek are the solutions.

Donny Van de Beek seems almost tied up. Real Madrid and the player have agreed on a deal and now it’s time to negotiate with Ajax. The Dutch midfielder even said that “Real Madrid and Ajax are in touch”, so the deal looks imminent. The 23-year-old footballer is a great reinforcement for the future of the team and he’s powerful and with goal, but the team would need extra manpower to face this new challenging season.

For this reason, Zinedine Zidane doesn’t forget Paul Pogba. The French player didn’t travel with Manchester United to Cardiff, forcing the situation, but Solskjaer has made clear that they won’t allow him to leave Old Trafford. Premier League starts on the 10th of August, so Pogba’s future needs to be clarify this week. In the meantime, the Red Devils are trying to sign Milinkovic-Savic and Bruno Fernandes, two players for the midfield that would ease the situation.

We had to wait five games to see the first victory of the summer (5-3), this time in the second game of the Audi Cup against Fenerbahce. We have to thank Karim Benzema’s hat trick, but the image didn’t improve a lot respect the previous matches. Again, the team was very fragile in defense, conceding many chances to a lower level opponent.

It was not an easy victory and again Los Blancos started the game conceding the first goal. This time we can blame Odriozola, again showing that he’s not able to replace Carvajal with guarantees. At least, the team reacted and Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick in the first half, two of these goals were headers. The French striker is the top scorer of the pre-season, with 4 goals, and looks sharp, just the same as last season. However, the team would need more help, because it was clear that with Benzema alone is not enough.

This time Vinicius, Hazard and Isco were around the French striker, but no one showed a great level in Germany. Besides, Los Blancos midfield was again very slow, even if Valverde gives more power and stamina. That ended up in conceding too many chances and goals again, although the team was better this time in the offensive part.

Zizou said after the Tottenham defeat that Real Madrid needed a victory to start working out properly. Now they have this first victory of the season even if he cannot be happy with the performance. Only in the last 30 minutes of the clash, Los Blancos got in advantage with Nacho and Mariano scoring the goals. Probably, the Dominican striker is needed in this squad, especially with only Benzema and Jovic as forwards.

In the last minutes of the game, we also had the chance to see Kubo, and he was brilliant game. The supporters wonder why the Japanese has not more minutes in the pre-season if he’s been one of the best. Also Rodrygo should have more opportunities, especially when the veteran players are so far from their top level. Next game will be next Thursday against RB Salzburg.
