Neymar To Real Madrid Rumours Continue

Could Brazilian superstar Neymar end up at the Santiago Bernabeu next season? Rumours in Spain suggest that this is a very real possibility. Apparently, the player himself wants to leave PSG already and has instructed his father to work on getting him a move to Madrid.

Links to Neymar first surfaced last month and it seems like this is a rumour that will not be going away any time soon. Since he went to France, there has been no lack of controversy. He fell out with Edinson Cavani over who should take penalties for the club and reports suggest he is unhappy with life in France.

There were even some rumours recently that he had asked his former Barcelona teammates if the Catalan club would take him back, though he had to deny this in a press conference. Just this week, he missed PSG’s game against Strasbourg in order to return to Brazil and there are question marks on his commitment to the club.

Summer Move Possible?

Neymar’s father Neymar Senior acts as his son’s agent and was a huge part of the deal that took the player from Barcelona to Paris last summer, even though he said that he was not happy with the move himself.

Spanish television show El Chiringuito has suggested that Neymar would like to move to Real Madrid next summer and has told his father to organise the transfer.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has already welcomed rumours linking Neymar with a move to Los Blancos, while president Florentino Perez spoke of his admiration for the player last week.

‘Everyone knew that I wanted to sign him,’

‘Being at Madrid would make it easier for Neymar to win [the Ballon d’Or]. Madrid is a club that gives big players what they need.’

There is no doubt that it will be an interesting summer for the club.

Real Madrid v Gremio Preview

Gremio have qualified for this competition as the winners of the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian side will pose a decent test for Real Madrid. The danger man for Gremio will be their winger Everton who scored the winner in their semi-final against Pachuca.

Real edged past Al Jazira on Wednesday by two goals to one in a match that they were expected to win a lot more comfortably. Gareth Bale scored the winner in that semi-final and he will be hoping to start here. In the Club World Cup overall, he has scored three goals in three games. Cristiano Ronaldo will play after he scored in the semi-final too.

Real Madrid v Gremio Prediction

Zinedine Zidane is likely to use his big names in order to claim the Club World Cup again. Real will go in as massive favourites and if they win, will equal Barcelona’s record of winning the Club World Cup three times.

Of the last nine finals featuring European clubs against South American clubs, the European side have won six times. Interestingly, this will be the first time Real and Gremio have ever faced each other in a competitive match. With players like Ronaldo and Bale on the pitch, it would be a surprise if Madrid lost.

Gareth Bale came off the bench to score the winner and see Real Madrid through to the Club World Cup Final after a 1-2 victory over Al Jazira on Wednesday. Los Blancos will now play Brazilian side Gremio to decide the tournament on Saturday.

Real Madrid were slow out of the blocks in the unfamiliar surroundings of the United Arab Emirates. Perhaps a little jet-lagged, they lacked urgency in the early stages and allowed Al Jazira more time on the ball than was expected pre-match.

When Real did get going they had two goals ruled out. Cristiano Ronaldo was deemed to have committed a foul in the build up to Karim Benzema scoring a header, before the video assistant referee (VAR) gave offside against Benzema to chalk off a Casemiro goal.

The underdogs then struck first to take a 1-0 lead at the interval through a goal from Brazilian forward Romarinho on 41 minutes. It could have been even worse but after earlier falling foul of VAR, Real Madrid were grateful for the system correctly identifying a Mbark Boussoufa goal as being offside.

Zinedine Zidane had clearly had words with his players at half-time and Real Madrid looked much more purposeful in their play immediately after the restart. Ronaldo equalised on 53 minutes and the European Champions began to turn the screw. Benzema twice hit the woodwork, before Bale came off the bench to score the winner with his very first touch of the game on 81 minutes.

It was the 28-year-old’s second appearance since sustaining a calf injury in September and grabbing a goal will hopefully give the Welshman a confidence boost after a difficult couple of months. Bale is set to feature in Saturday’s final, which if Real win, they will equal Barcelona’s record of three tournament wins.

Italian Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly keen to sign out of favour Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer transfer window. The Old Lady is not known for making January signings but has signalled an interest ahead of time according to Tuttosport.

The publication also speculates that Juventus have an interest in Dani Ceballos and that the club has both players in their plans for next season. Should a formal bid materialise, it could see a return to Serie A for Kovacic.

There is no indication that Kovacic is unhappy at the Bernabeu, after all he joined the club knowing full-well that he would be a squad rotation player. With players such as Toni Kroos and fellow countryman Luka Modric ahead of him in the pecking order, his game time has been further limited by injury this season. The Croatian midfielder hasn’t started a game in the 2017-18, making just three appearances as a substitute.

Kovacic is a product of the youth system at Dinamo Zagreb which whom he won two league titles in three seasons before being head-hunted by Inter. He spent three seasons at the Serie A side but was unable to help them to win any trophies. He joined Real Madrid in the 2015-16 season and has so far made 81 appearances for the club in all competitions. He played a part in winning two Champions League titles and has a La Liga medal to his name.

The 23-year-old is a versatile midfielder that can be deployed in a number of positions. Able to play in the middle of the park or wide on the left, his adaptability is perhaps why he is so often used as a substitute. His accurate and methodical style of play has helped him earn the nickname ‘the Professor’.

Kovacic seems to be willing to play a role for the side and is reliable when called upon. With his best years still ahead of him, Real Madrid may be best off keeping hold of their man and developing him further.

Real Madrid are in the market for a new striker in January and a transfer bid For Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is imminent. Club president Florentino Perez was going to hold out until the summer to make a marquee signing but his plans have been fast-tracked, according to reports in Spain.

Perez was rumoured to want a player in the same class as Inter’s Mauro Icardi, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski or Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane but a deal for any of that trio now looks unlikely. There have also been some younger names on the radar but Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner are deemed to be lacking in experience.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in his prime at 28 years of age but is becoming disillusioned with life at Borussia Dortmund. His side are regularly playing second fiddle to Bayern in the BundesLiga and have been woeful in the Champions League this season. To compound matters, he has recently been fined for being late to a training session. With relations between BVB and the Gabon international at an all time low, a £60m bid is being prepared to test their resolve.

Aubameyang Is A Proven Goalscorer

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, then you’ll know all too well that Real Madrid’s forwards haven’t exactly been firing this season. Things have been looking up recently but here we are in December, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema having just six La Liga goals between them. Los Blancos are regularly dominating games but are not able to get the goals needed to win and it is costing them dearly.

After brief spells at numerous clubs in Italy and France, Aubameyang made a name for himself at St Etienne where his league goals returned double figures in both of his final seasons at the Ligue 1 club. That rate of scoring has continued at Borussia Dortmund and he’s topped 20 BundesLiga  goals in each of his last two seasons.

His 2017-18 statistics read 12 goals in 14 league games and 20 goals in 22 matches in all competitions. If the move goes ahead and that kind of form can be replicated, then Real Madrid will be onto a good thing with Aubameyang.

It will be a very different game compared to the normal club match in Europe and it is fair to say that Real Madrid have the much better players. Real are fresh off hammering Sevilla 5-0 too.

Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane should be back for this one after both missing out through injury in recent matches. This seems like the perfect match for Bale to get some minutes under his belt after a stop start season. On paper, this match should be easy enough for Real Madrid.

Al Jazira v Real Madrid Preview

Al Jazira qualified for this competition as winners of the UAE Pro League. This match represents a huge step up in class for them but one thing that is in their favour is familiarity with the climate and that could put  them in good stead.

Both Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane have traveled to Abu Dhabi and are expected to feature in this match. The Welshman has had well documented injury troubles and Zinedine Zidane will be keen to get him match fit ahead of the upcoming El Clasico clash with Barcelona later this month. A few of the fringe players are also expected to get a chance to impress.

Al Jazira v Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

Al Jazira (4-4-2): Khaseif; Ayed, Fayez, Mabkhout, Boussoufa; Rashid, Alhosani, Salem, Romarinho; Alattas, Fares

Real Madrid (4-3-3): Navas; Theo, Varane, Nacho, Achraf; Kovacic, Llorente, Ceballos; Ronaldo, Mayoral, Bale

Al Jazira v Real Madrid Betting Tips

  • Al Jazira have won 6, drawn 4 and lost 0 games out of the last 10.
  • Real Madrid have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 games out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Al Jazira have scored an average of 1.7 goals and have conceded an average of 0.8 goals.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 2.4 goals and have conceded an average of 1.1 goals.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of the last 10 Al Jazira games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 8 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.

Al Jazira v Real Madrid Prediction

If their match against Urawa Reds was anything to go by, then Al Jazira will have their work cut out here. They won that one with a solitary goal from Ali Mabkhout after the interval but I’d be surprised if they are still in the game by that point in this match.

With the utmost respect for Al Jazira, this should be a cakewalk for Real Madrid and they will more than likely rack up a big score to underline their dominance. Even if the La Liga side field a few youngsters, they should be capable of outclassing the UAE Pro League champions. Real Madrid are tipped to win this comfortably and a Correct Score bet of 0-4 is advised.

Real Madrid did a first half demolition job on Sevilla, scoring all of the goals in a 5-0 rout before the interval to move up to third in the La Liga table. Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona play today but will have surely taken note of the manner in which Real secured this victory.

Los Blancos came flying out of the blocks and Nacho drew first blood, the centre-back scoring a close range effort in the 3rd minute. Sevilla had their backs to the wall as wave after wave of attacking play came from the purposeful hosts and it wasn’t long before the lead was extended.

Cristiano Ronaldo had only scored twice in La Liga before this match but doubled his tally in the space of just eight minutes. His first came on 23 minutes, when he picked up a beautiful through ball from Asensio and dispatched a confident finish. His second and Real’s third came courtesy of a penalty following a handball from Jesus Navas. Ronaldo powered home a low finish from the spot on 31 minutes, despite the best efforts of Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico who guessed the right way but could not get a hand to the ball.

With the Bernabeu rocking, Real started to turn on the style. Toni Kroos finished off a well-crafted team move which was started by Ronaldo. CR7 made a good interception and played it to Kroos who drove forward with a piercing run before playing a one-two with Lucas Vazquez and guided the return ball home on 38 minutes. Ronaldo and Kroos were also involved in the fifth goal, combining before the German midfielder picked out young right-back Achraf Hakimi to complete the scoring on 42 minutes and open his account for the club.

Real Madrid had the cigars out at half-time, with such an unassailable lead. The second period was more or less uneventful apart from Karim Benzema hitting the upright from a Marcelo cross. It’s a big win for Real Madrid which puts some pressure on Barcelona who face a tricky tie away to Villarreal on Sunday night.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in history after scooping a fifth Ballon D’Or award on Friday. CR7 has now won the prestigious accolade the same amount of times as Barcelona rival Lionel Messi.

Zidane won the award himself in 1998, the year that he helped both France to to lift the World Cup and Juventus to win Serie A. He spoke glowingly of Ronaldo’s achievement;

“The stats speak for themselves. He’s the best player in the history of football. He’s made history at the club and will continue to do so and I hope he’ll retire here.”

And here are those stats. Ronaldo is 32 and has scored 418 goals in 412 games for Real Madrid at the time of writing. In eight seasons at the club, he’s won three Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies.

The former Real Madrid star was happy to concede that Ronaldo is a better player than he was, humbly adding;

“Cristiano Ronaldo is better than me by far, but I’m not bothered because I had a good career.”

Cristiano Ronaldo could yet add a third Club World Cup to his growing list of medals. Los Blancos fly to the United Arab Emirates this week, where they take on Al Jazira or Urawa Reds in the semi-final. All being well there, they will play a second match, the final on Saturday 16th December.

Zidane has confirmed that both Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane will travel to Abu Dhabi, despite missing Saturday’s La Liga clash with Sevilla. Bale has featured in just 10 games this season, managing only 28 minutes of game time since September. It is thought that the Club World Cup will be the ideal setting for him to continue his rehabilitation.

Cristiano Ronaldo Wins His Fifth Ballon d'Or

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or for a fifth time in his career, which moves him level with great rival Lionel Messi. The Los Blancos star was named the winner of France Football’s prestigious award at a ceremony in Paris on Thursday.

The award caps a brilliant year for both Ronaldo personally and Real Madrid as a whole. The side has won La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup in 2017, and Ronaldo also performed well for his country at international level, helping Portugal qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Cristiano’s exploits in the Champions League went a long way to earning him the award, as he scored 19 goals in 13 games in the competition across the entirety of 2017. With this award, it now means that for the last 10 years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the only two players to win the award, cementing their dominance as the two best players on the planet.

Ronaldo’s Recent Domination

In recent years, it is Ronaldo that has dominated though, claiming the award for four of the last five years. After being named as the winner for 2017, Ronaldo labelled himself the most “complete player” in the world. He told France Football:

“I don’t see anyone better than me,”

No player does things that I cannot do myself, but I see things others can’t do.

There’s no more complete player than me. I’m the best player in history — in the good and the bad moments.”
