Real will have plenty of players missing for the game unfortunately, with Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos and Casemiro all out because of suspension. Raphael Varane is also out due to injury and Gareth Bale is a doubt with a calf problem. Marco Asensio should be fine to play though. This game is crucial as both sides are locked on 28 points in La Liga. Real could go 3rd with a win here.

Real Madrid v Sevilla provides Zinedine Zidane’s men with the opportunity to potentially move back up to 3rd in the La Liga table. This is a huge game as Sevilla are level on points with Real and both sides are on 28 points.

Real Madrid v Sevilla Preview

Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos and Casemiro will all miss this game due to suspension, which brings up question marks over the discipline of the side. Raphael Varane will miss out because of injury, while Jesus Vallejo is carrying a knock. This means that the partnership of Marcos Llorente and Nacho could be seen at centre-back. Mateo Kovacic should come into the midfield, while Marco Asensio should play some part.

For Sevilla, the ongoing transfer rumours regarding Steven N’Zonzi mean that he is very unlikely to start here, meaning that Guido Pizarro will continue in midfield. Simon Kjaer should be back to partner Clement Lenglet at the back, and Sergio Rico could play in goal. Nolito is likely to start out wide.

Real Madrid v Sevilla Predicted Lineups

Sevilla (4-3-3): Rico; Mercaso, Lenglet, Kjaer, Escudero; Banega, Pizarro, Vazquez; Sarabia, Ben Yedder, Nolito

Real Madrid v Sevilla Prediction

Real Madrid will want to play a lot better than they did last week which was a 0-0 draw with Athletic Bilbao. Even though Real have so many injuries and suspensions, the starting XI should still be very strong.

Los Blancos have won their last four home La Liga matches, and they also have a great home record against Sevilla in recent seasons, claiming 4-0 and 4-1 wins. Sevilla are unbeaten in their last six matches, but they have won just one of their last five away from home. Real should win and a 3-2 scoreline is predicted.

Match Report: Real Madrid 3 - Borussia Dortmund 0: Real Battle Through

Real Madrid went into their last Champions League group game already knowing that they were through to the knock out phase, yet they still battled well in order to defeat a spirited Borussia Dortmund side. The Germans were looking to claim a Europa League place and restore some pride in a European campaign that has not gone at all as they’d have hoped.

Zinedine Zidane’s men took the lead in the match through Borja Mayoral’s first goal in the competition, which was assisted by Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo himself then quickly added a second, which was his ninth in the Champions League this season. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then stole the show a little bit, scoring either side of half-time to level things up.

Lucas Vazquez, who has been rumoured to possibly be leaving the club in January, scored the winner late on, to ensure that Real ended the group stage on a high. It was another defeat for Dortmund, who did eventually hang on to third place in the group to qualify for the Europa League as Spurs defeated APOEL.

Los Blancos go through as runners up in the group, meaning that they are likely to face a tough match in the last 16. The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Manchester City could be waiting in the next round.

Cristiano Ronaldo had more personal success too, as he became the only man to score in all six first round group stage matches in the Champions League.

Isco was particularly impressive in this game, as he pulled the strings in midfield. All of Real’s play came through him and he created numerous chances throughout the match. He was the best player on the pitch under he was replaced by Marcos Llorente after 69 minutes, in order to rest him for the big match against Sevilla on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Yet Another Champions League Record

Cristiano Ronaldo is used to breaking all kinds of records and he was at it again on Wednesday evening in Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at Santiago Bernabeu.

His goal against the German side means that he is now the only player to have ever scored in all six of his side’s first round group matches in the Champions League. It is another great achievement for a magnificent player.

If you enjoy a gamble like our friends at Webet, you would probably have some money on Ronaldo to win the Balon D’Or yet again this year, and he looks back to his goalscoring best.

Scoring home and away against Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and APOEL is no easy feat, but the Portuguese international made it look quite simple. This comes mere weeks after he broke his own record for the most Champions League goals in a calendar year.

Ronaldo pleased with his achievement

Cristiano himself was delighted to break the record, but also made sure to mention how important the win was for the team before anything else.

“I’m very happy, we wanted to finish the group stage well with a victory,

“I also scored; I helped the team to win with a beautiful goal. The record is also important, I’m really pleased.”

As Real did not win the group, they will go into Monday’s last 16 draw unseeded and are set for a difficult game whoever gets drawn out of the hat. That being said, Ronaldo is hopeful that Los Blancos can go all the way yet again, in a competition that they have been dominating in recent years.

“The important thing was to pass through the group stage.

“Our aim is to win the Champions League.”

It is back to La Liga action this weekend though, as Real face Sevilla on Saturday.

Los Blancos Looking To Sign Alexis Sanchez?

Arsenal’s star man Alexis Sanchez looks set to leave the London club in the summer as he has still not signed a new contract. Reports from Don Balon in Spain suggest that Real Madrid are the club that are currently leading the race to sign him.

We may know about any deal soon too, as Sanchez will be allowed to agree terms with a foreign club in January, when he will have just six months left on his deal. The report also says that Real will face competition for the Chile international’s signature, as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also interested.

The fact that Arsenal would obviously not want Sanchez to join Man City may help Real Madrid’s chances of signing him. Regarding possible City interest, Arsene Wenger seems to think Alexis will not be going:

“You say everybody thinks City will come in for Alexis – I am part of everybody and I don’t think he will go,

Do City need him? They have to decide that. But we need him here.”

Making Room For Alexis?

The same report from Don Balon also suggests that Real manager Zinedine Zidane will look to sell winger Lucas Vazquez in order to free up both the funds and space in the squad for the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

Serie A side Roma are said to be interested in Vazquez and they may look to tie up a deal for him as early as January. The player himself would also be open to a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu as he is not really getting enough time on the pitch this season, even with injuries to big players such as Gareth Bale.

It is easy to see why Real would want to sign Alexis Sanchez. He has scored five goals in fourteen games so far this season and getting him on a free in the summer would be an incredible deal.

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund doesn’t have much riding on it but should be an interesting game nonetheless. Two of the biggest teams in European football are out of form and will be looking for a morale boosting victory.

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund Preview

The big question is whether Gareth Bale will make his first Champions League appearance since September. Zinedine Zidane may limit the Welshman to a spot on the bench to protect him after recent injury troubles. Marco Asensio, Mateo Kovacic, Nacho and Achraf Hakimi are all expected to get game time for Los Blancos.

Borussia Dortmund are in the middle of an injury crisis and a suspension to Jeremy Toljan hasn’t helped matters. Maximilian Philipp and Gonzalo Castro are the lates casualties, joining Mario Gotze, Erik Durm, Sebastian Rode, Marco Reus and Lukasz Piszczek on the sidelines. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be fresh after missing Saturday’s BundesLiga game through suspension.

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund Predicted Lineups

Real Madrid (4-3-1-2): Navas; Marcelo, Nacho, Varane, Hakimi; Modric, Casemiro, Kovacic; Asensio; Ronaldo, Benzema

Borussia Dortmund (4-3-3): Burki; Guerreiro, Toprak, Sokratis; Bartra; Kagawa, Weigl, Dahoud; Pulisic, Aubameyang, Yarmolenko

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips

  • Real Madrid have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 games out of the last 10.
  • Borussia Dortmund have won 1, drawn 5 and lost 4 of the last 10 games.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 2.1 goals and have received an average of 0.9 goals.
  • In the last 10 games, Borussia Dortmund have scored an average of 1.9 goals per game and have conceded 2.0 goals per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.
  • There have been 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 10 Borussia Dortmund games.

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund Prediction

Unless APOEL Nicosia get a shock result against Tottenham Hotspur, things will stay as they are in Champions League Group H. Real Madrid cannot finish above Spurs because of their record against each other. Borussia Dortmund have a superior goal difference to the Cypriot side, so merely need to match their result to move into the Europa League and will be expecting Tottenham to do them a favour.

The visitors have really struggled in the Champions League of late, failing to win their last seven matches in the competition. One of those losses was a 1-3 defeat to Real Madrid back in September. Real Madrid have scored at least twice in the last five meetings at the Bernabeu and that should be enough for a victory here.

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has been named La Liga Player of the month for November by popular football statistics site Whoscored.com. In a difficult month for Los Blancos, the Brazilian has outshone his peers and maintained a high level of performance. He’s one of a few players to look the part of late and the stats back that up.

Casemiro’s Whoscored.com rating of 8.2 helped him to win the accolade ahead of Real Sociedad’s Adnan Januzaj (8.0) and Valencia’s Dani Parejo (7.9). Sergio Ramos was the only other Real Madrid player to make the XI with a rating of 7.6. Perhaps it’s telling that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are not in the team of the month.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Casemiro is notorious for breaking up opposition moves but he’s made good use of the ball when in possession too. He bagged a goal in each of the wins over Las Palmas and Malaga while turning in a man of the match performance away to Atletico Madrid. The 25-year-old also made 15 successful tackles, 6 interceptions, won 10 aerial duels and completed 15 accurate long-ball passes.

Carlos Henrique Casimiro was born on 23rd February 1992 in São José dos Campos, Brazil. He joined São Paulo as a youth player and went on to score 11 goals in 112 official games for the club. He initially came to Real Madrid on loan before securing a permanent move and then subsequently being loaned out to Porto.

He rarely featured under Rafa Benitez but has played a leading role under Zinedine Zidane and was part of the Real Madrid squad that won three Champions Leagues, from 2013–14 to 2016–17. In his mid twenties, Casemiro appears to be coming of age and could be a force in the Real Madrid midfield for years to come.

Real Madrid were frustrated at San Mames where Athletic Bilbao held them to a 0-0 draw on Saturday night. The result means that they remain 8 points behind Barcelona in La Liga, after Celta Vigo had secured a point following a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou. The irritation at not being able to find a breakthrough took it’s toll on Los Blancos skipper Sergio Ramos who was sent off for a second bookable offence in the dying moments.

As expected Real Madrid had most of the ball but they didn’t make adequate use of their possession advantage. Athletic Bilbao defended resolutely and made it hard for the visitors to fashion any meaningful chances. Real had nineteen shots to Bilbao’s eleven but only four of those efforts found the mark. Rumoured Real Madrid transfer target Kepa Arrizabalaga was on hand to thwart his potential suitors, pulling off some brilliant saves.

Both Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo have been back among the goals lately and they both hit the woodwork. First Benzema struck the upright before Ronaldo had the best chance of the game with a beautifully struck volley that eventually had Arrizabalaga beaten but clipped the post and went wide.

As the game wore on, Real Madrid began to look more and more desperate with Toni Kroos and Marcelo resorting to hopeful crosses that were often wayward and wasteful. The flashpoint came in the 86th minute when Ramos who had already been booked for a foul on Raul Garcia, brought down Aritz Aduriz. The referee was in no doubt and promptly gave Ramos his marching orders, the nineteenth time he has seen red in La Liga.

With a numerical advantage the hosts came to life and the game was flipped on it’s head. Having had their backs to the wall for most of the match Bilbao began to ask questions of their more illustrious visitors. It was all hands to the pump defensively, as even Ronaldo and Benzema stacked up behind the ball to ensure that they came away with at least a point. At the final whistle the disappointment among players and fans was obvious; Real Madrid have let Barcelona off the hook.

Athletic Club v Real Madrid

Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid gives Los Blancos the opportunity to apply some pressure to the teams above. Bilbao have not been at their best so far this season and sit down in 16th place in La Liga. A win for Real Madrid could take them back up to 3rd.

Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid Preview

For the hosts, Aymeric Laporte will miss out due to suspension after he received his fifth yellow card of the season in their last match. Mikel Rico is likely to keep his place in midfield alongside Ander Iturraspe. Manager José Ángel Ziganda is set to prefer Markel Susaeta to Inigo Cordoba on the left wing, with Eneko Boveda being selected at right-back.

For Real, Gareth Bale will unfortunately miss the match after picking up a calf injury on his return in the Copa Del Rey match in midweek. The good news is that Sergio Ramos will come back into the team, with Jesus Vallejo the player to make way. Keylor Navas is fit to start in goal, so Kiko Casilla will return to the bench.

Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

Athletic Bilbao (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Boveda, Nunez, Etxeita, Balenziaga; Rico, Iturraspe; Williams, Garcia, Susaeta; Aduriz

Real Madrid (4-3-1-2): Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Isco; Benzema, Ronaldo

  • In the last 10 games, Athletic Bilbao have scored an average of 1.1 goals and have conceded an average of 1.5 goals.

  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 4 of the last 10 Athletic Bilbao games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.

Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid Prediction

After the dramatic win against Malaga last time out in La Liga, Real will hope they can play a lot better this time around. A much changed Los Blancos side could only draw with Fuenlabrada in midweek too, which was certainly not a confidence booster.

Unsurprisingly, Real have a good record against Athletic, winning 34 of the 52 matches between the two sides overall. Real have not lost to Athletic since early 2015. Real Madrid should win this and a 2-0 victory is predicted.

Real Interested In Athletic Bilbao Goalkeeper

Real Madrid are set to make a move for Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to Marca. Reports suggest that the highly rated youngster has a £17million release clause in his contract which Real are happy to meet.

Arrizabalaga made his league debut for Bilbao back in September 2016, and has produced an excellent 40 saves in 12 league starts for Athletic. His current deal at Athletic Bilbao is due to expire in the summer but Los Blancos are reported to want to get the deal done in January rather than wait the extra six months.

Marca were so confident that the deal would happen that they decided to run with the story on their front page. Arrizabalaga has a big reputation and he is currently former Real target David de Gea’s understudy in the Spanish national team. If Arrizabalaga signs, it would likely spell the end of any interest in Manchester United’s de Gea.

Navas’ Place Under Threat

Keylor Navas would be the player that suffers most from Arrizabalaga arriving at the Bernabeu as he would be losing his place in the starting 11. Navas however doesn’t seem too worried about the reports. He told Fox Deportes:

“I don’t feel I need to prove anything to anyone, I just have to enjoy my career and relish what it is to be at Real Madrid.

“One doesn’t know what is going to happen in the future but I’m the one who is here now. I have to be calm and enjoy myself.”

Zidane’s men play Athletic Bilbao this weekend but Arrizabalaga is unlikely to play any part due to a minor injury.

Real have also been linked with a move for Chelsea defender David Luiz in the January transfer window so it could be a busy month of transfers for Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Pérez.
