Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has launched a blistering attack his old club and belitting countryman Cristiano Ronaldo.

The now Chelsea manager comes up against Los Blancos as the two sides meet in the Guinness International Trophy in the USA – and the pre-match comments made by Mourinho will add extra spice to the affair.

Speaking to ESPN ahead of the clash, the two-time Champions League winner discussed how he started out in management and what he was doing before his first job in the hotseat.

‘I was manager for the first time in 2000 but, before that, I was assistant in big clubs and with big managers and coaching the best players in the world, so I was 30 and I was coaching Ronaldo, not this one [Cristiano], the real one, the Brazilian Ronaldo,’ Mourinho said.

He also took time to criticise his former club on how it is run, desibring it as ‘politics, and not about football’.

“Madrid is not about sport,” Mourinho stated.

Ronaldo was asked about his former managers’ comments but refused to respond.

The 28-year-old said: ‘There are some things in life that don’t deserve any mention. This is one of those things and I won’t comment on it for obvious reasons. I always respect my coaches and try to learn from them.

“As we say in Portugal, “I don’t spit on the plate I eat on.” That’s how I feel. I prefer to try and remember the positive side to Mourinho.”

Fabio Coentrao is keen on making a move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to British newspaper Daily Star.

The Portuguese left-back has found it hard to settle in Madrid since signing from Benfica in the summer of 2011. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea had shown an interest in bringing him to London, but reports say Coentrao is keen on signing for city rivals Tottenham.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan of the 25-year-old and has asked chairman Daniel Levy to pursue Coentrao’s arrival.

Gareth Bale is expected to leave Tottenham for Madrid in a world-record transfer, but Levy wants to conduct any possible deal for Coentrao separately from negotiations for the Welsh international.

Real Madrid are expecting to sell Coentrao for no less than 25 million euros. Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira, Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno have been linked with a move to Real as possible replacements for the Portuguese.

Real Madrid youngster Jose Rodriguez has been included in the list of most promising European under-19 players. This list has been drawn up by uefa.com reporters at the recent European Championship in this category in Lithuania.

Castilla’s centre-half is the only Spaniard among the ten players named. Uefa.com reporters describe him as a player who “looks the finished article”.

“Real Madrid José Rodríguez is as close as they come, however – the ever-pressing, deep-lying midfielder the fulcrum of much of Spain’s play. Supplied a clever assist for Sandro Ramírez’s clincher against Portugal and converted a penalty against France in the last four”, they say.

The other nine players included in the list are Yassine Benzia and Adrien Rabiot (France), Aleksandar Mitrovic and Predrag Rajkovic (Serbia), Gratas Sirgedas (Lithuania), Avto Endeladze (Georgia), Recep Niyaz (Turkey), Bernardo Silva (Portugal) and Lucas Woudenberg (Netherlands).

Spain reached semifinals of the tournament, where they lost to France 1-2 in the extra time. Serbia won the title with a 1-0 victory over the French in the final.

“Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid”, the Madrid daily titles. “He will make 17 million a year in the next five seasons. Both parts have gave in on the image rights front”, Marca reports.

With this deal, “Ronaldo feels valued by the club and the leader of the squad”, Marca states. According to the Spanish paper, “Real will announce the deal after signing Gareth Bale”.

Meanwhile, the other main Madrid sports daily, As, puts its focus on the final of the International Champions Cup that Real Madrid will play in Miami against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, after the Blues beat AC Milan in the semifinals.

Real Madrid defender Pepe has revealed his “love” for the club his future following speculation that he could leave Madrid this summer.

The Portuguese centre-back has been linked with a number of clubs, including Premier League outfit Manchester City.

Recently installed Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini worked with Pepe during his time in charge of Real, and is willing to bring him to Manchester. But los Blancos president Florentino Perez has stated Pepe is not for sale.

Pepe lost his spot in the starting eleven last season to youngster Raphael Varane. However, when asked about the transfer rumours, the centre-back conffessed his “love” for Real.

“I’m a professional. They left a lot of things at the end of last season but I have a contract to fulfill,” he said.

“I’m talking to the president [Florentino Perez] and my representatives to see what will happen”, Pepe added. “I have a contract, I love the club and I have great affection for the people”, he concluded.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil’s goals in the first 30 minutes of the game lead Real Madrid to the final of the International Champions Cup with a 2-1 victory over Everton.

Ronaldo and Ozil shined in the first football match ever played at the 51-year-old Dodger Stadium, normally used for baseball games, and keeping Real Madrid unbeaten in the pre-season.

Just 14 days away from the season opener in La Liga against Betis, Los Blancos showed more than enough talent and fitness to overcome Everton.

The Toffees had reached the semifinals with a surprise win against Italian league champion Juventus. Everton’s Spanish manager, Roberto Martinez, acknowledged the match was a good chance to test his team against the world’s best.

While his side looked good for stretches, particularly around Real’s penalty box, Everton’s defense was repeatedly caught scrambling when its offside trap was beaten.

Ronaldo broke between two defenders for a golden chance in tenth minute, but the Portuguese international tried to volley Ramos’ long pass and saw his shot fly well over the goal.

However, a few minutes later, he scored when a clever pass from Ozil left him alone in Everton’s penalty area, where he faked Howard and sent the ball to the back of the net.

Everton had their chances as well. Marouane Fellaini’s header glanced off the post and Sylvain Distin’s goal was denied for a foul.

But then, Ronaldo and Ozil then slipped behind the Toffees’ defense again, with Ronaldo assisting the German international for another goal.

Everton narrowed the deficit when Nikica Jelavic caught Steven Naismith’s header and scored with a flying kick in the 61st minute. However, the Liverpool club were unable to find an equalizer, although they played more confidently until the end of the game.

Los Blancos will play the final of the tournament on Wednesday night in Miami. They will face the winner of Chelsea’s meeting with Milan.

Madrid sports daily Marca claims in its front page that Tottenham Hotspur owner Daniel Levy has threatened Gareth Bale with not selling him to Real Madrid if insists on holding in contempt.

“Tottenham uses intimidation to answer Bale”, the Madrid paper titles. “They’ve told him they won’t sell him until next year and will spend the season on the bench”, they claim.

“Real Madrid has shown their satisfaction with the Welshman’s attitude”, they add.

As puts their main focus on the latest Jose Mourinho words in which the Portuguese criticised Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Mourinho doesn’t forget about Real Madrid”, As titles. “It is a special club. It is not just a club. Madrid is politics. Madrid is not about football, Madrid is not about sport, but about many other things around”, former Real Madrid manager declared.

As also highlights his words about Ronaldo: “I was 30 and I was coaching Ronaldo, not this one [Cristiano], the real one, the Brazilian Ronaldo”.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be close to sealing a sensational return back to Manchester United, according to the Daily Star.

The tabloid claimed United manager David Moyes has targeted the Portuguese star – still a hero among the Old Trafford faithful – amid Madrid’s interest in Gareth Bale.

The paper said once the deal for the Tottenham Hotspur winger in confirmed, Los Blancos will allow Ronaldo to move back to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Manchester since last autumn when he suggested he was unhappy in Madrid. He has made no secret of his fondness for the Red Devils and his desire to return to the club one day.

The forward has scored 201 goals for Real Madrid in 199 games since making an £80 million move in 2009.

Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he asked Los Blancos directors to sign Gareth Bale last season. The Portuguese told ESPN: “I asked the club to buy him last season but it was not possible”.

“It looks like it going to happen this season so I am happy for them because they get a fantastic player”, Mourinho said.

Chelsea’s coach warned Bale of the pressure he will be under in Spain: “Of course, the numbers are huge numbers and the kid has to go now and there’s pressure to prove that he’s worth that investment”.

“I think he’s a fantastic player and the way my Real Madrid was playing, it was an easy player to fill a space and to get into that tactical dynamic,” Mourinho added.

“I don’t know what Carlo Ancelotti is thinking now but he is an experienced coach and for sure will get the best out of him”, he concluded.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has declared if Real Madrid were to pay 120 million euros to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur it would make a “joke” of Financial Fair Play.

According to reports, Real Madrid are ready to pay a world-record fee to bring the Welshman to Santiago Bernabeu. Wenger says such figures would go completely against the new Uefa Finantial Fair Play (FFP) regulations aimed at making sure all clubs balance the books.

“It makes a joke of the FFP regulations. I find it amazing that in the year that FFP comes in world football has gone completely crazy. You wonder what kind of impact and effect FFP has on the football world. It looks like it has made everybody worse than before.”

“It’s never good to lose a big player, especially a British player,” he added. “I believe it’s important that the Premier League keeps the best players.”, he concluded.
