Real Madrid legend Raul will pull on the famous white shirt once more on August 22 in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy, the club has confirmed.

The forward, who made more than 700 appearances for Los Blancos in a 16-year spell, will be visiting the Spanish capital with his current club Al-Sadd.

And Real said on the club website that Raul would play 45 minutes for each side on his return.

The statement said: “Al-Sadd will be the rival of Real Madrid in the next edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy. The Qatari team will play against the Blancos on Thursday August 22 to contest the XXXV edition of the tournament (22:30 hours).

“Raul will return to the stadium where he played for 16 seasons. To commemorate this occasion, the former captain of Real Madrid will play 45 minutes with each team.”

The 36-year-old striker left Los Blancos in 2010 when he joined Bundesliga outfit Schalke. He moved to Al-Sadd last summer and helped them to their 13th league title.

Although a lot has been published in the last days about Real Madrid youngster Jese Rodriguez considering whether to renew or not his contract with Los Blancos, Marca claims today that the club “takes for granted that Jese is renewing”.

The Spanish newspaper also publishes a poll in their website in which 78% of the fans have voted that they would signed Gareth Bale rather than a striker this summer.

Marca also publishes a picture of Jose Mourinho in his first day of training with Chelsea. “The Special come back”, they title.

The other main Madrid sports daily, As, brings another poll to its front page. “Cristiano has to be renewed”, they title. “95% of the fans request the club to fix Ronaldo’s contract situation as soon as possible”, they report.

Xabi Alonso has denied reports he is ready to make a move back to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old midfielder was linked with a return to his former club Liverpool or to link up again with ex-Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho at Chelsea in the press over the weekend, but he said he has no intention of leaving Los Blancos.

Alonso’s position in the team may come under threat should the Santiago Bernabeu club sign Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi – who they see as the long-term replacement for the World Cup winner.

But speaking to Madrid –based daily Marca, Alonso said he has not thought about a switch back to Anfield or to Stamford Bridge.

“To the Premier League? No, not at all,” he said when asked about a potential transfer.

Alonso added that he did not want to answer any more questions about his future and would rather focus on getting fit for the start of the new season.

Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao wants t leave the club, according to former team-mate at the Santiago Bernabeu, Ricardo Carvalho.

The 35-year-old central defender was speaking to A Bola newspaper about Coentrao’s future in the Spanish capital.

Carvalho, who signed for Monaco in the close season, said his compatriot was looking for an exit to get his career back on track. But he added he believes Coentrao is good enough to have a few more successful years with Los Blancos.

He said: “I have the feeling that Coentrao is considering leaving Madrid, which is best for his future.

“However, I think he has what it takes to stay on. In the last year he has played regularly and well. He’s a great left-back and even the people who criticised him changed opinion. I personally believe there is a place for him at Real Madrid.”

Coentrao has been linked with a move back to Benfica or with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in recent weeks.

Real Madrid players Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo have been nominated for the Golden Foot award – a prize given to the best player aged 28 or over in Europe.

The award, created in 2003, is designed to recognise outstanding sporting achievement by older footballers both individually and as members of their teams.

Two other former Los Blancos players are also on the 10-man shortlist: David Beckham and Samuel Etoo.

The other candidates for the award, selected by a panel of leading sports writers from around the world, include Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, David Trezeguet, Andres Iniesta and Didier Drogba. The Golden Foot 2013 will be presented at a ceremony in Monaco.

Roberto Baggio was the first player to win the prize in 2003. Former Real Madrid players Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos have also been honoured with the award in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

Madrid sports newspaper As publishes today a poll among Real Madrid fans, who have picked Asier Illarramendi, Isco and Daniel Carvajal to become part of the starting 11.

“The fans choose talent and quality over muscle”, As titles. The fans would leave Sami Khedira, Angel di Maria, Luka Modric and Alvaro Arbeloa out.

Another poll made by the Spanish newspaper shows that the fans of most La Liga and second division clubs have a very negative view of Jose Mourinho. The all give him an “unanimous fail”, As reports.

The other main Madrid paper, Marca, brings to its front page a story about Zinedine Zidane obtaining the official manager license. “Mr Zizou”, Marca titles.

“He finaly has the oficial manager title. He will start as Ancelotti’s assistant, but he is qualified to be the main coach”, they publish.

Young Real Madrid forward has admitted he is unsure about his future at the club – something that could alert the likes of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur who are on the look out for a striker.

The youngster starred for Real’s B team last season scoring 22 goals and was a key member of Spain’s Under-20 team that went to the semi-final of the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.

But he admitted he is unsure of how much game time he’ll get at the Santiago Bernabeu this year, particularly as Los Blancos are known to be on the lookout for an attacker.

With just 12 months left on his current deal, Real may decide now is the time to cash in on Jese rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

Speaking to the Spanish press, the 21-year-old said: “I want to play, and I don’t know if I’ll get many minutes in the Real Madrid first team.”

Mario Balotelli’s agent has said “sooner or later everyone is on the market” amid reports Real Madrid have seen an offer for the Italian forward turned down.

The controversial striker only made the move to the San Siro in a 20 million euro deal from Manchester City in January, but Corriere dello Sport claimed Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring Balotelli to the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to the paper, an offer from Madrid for the 22-year-old was turned down immediately and Milan insist he is going nowhere.

Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola stated: “Will Balotelli be sold? No, for the moment he won’t go, but in football those who are not for sale sooner or later go on the market.

“Milan have an important project in place with Mario and he is very happy here. You can be sure he won’t move for now, but tomorrow, I don’t know.

“It is very tough for Serie A to hold on to top players right now, as their revenue is only a third of what English or Spanish clubs make.”

Real Madrid and Brazil legend Ronaldo has said he believes Neymar should have moved to Los Blancos rather than Barcelona.

The 36-year-old former striker spent a year with Los Cules during his playing days and five seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And he says current Brazil star Neymar, a stand out performer in the recent Confederations Cup, should have made the switch from Santos to Madrid.

Both Barcelona and Madrid were believed to have made bids for the 21-year-old, and he chose to sign for the La Liga champions.

Ronaldo told reporters in Las Vegas: “I would have preferred him [Neymar] to sign for Madrid, but it’s not for me to say.

“With so many clubs after him it was difficult to pull off. But Barcelona is a great team and we know he’ll do well in Europe. For us Brazilians he is already a legend.”
