Real Madrid won the first game of the season in La Liga at Riazor (0-3) easily and they are the new leaders of the competition. Zidane’s side continues with the good performances and they didn’t have any problems to get the first three points of the season. Los Blancos look really superior to the other teams although they didn’t play the most brilliant game of the last months.

Real Madrid started the game having the ball with Isco as the boss of the game. However, the best chances arrived from Deportivo in the first seven minute but Keylor Navas saved a really clear shot from Florin Andone. Los Blancos were struggling to have the control of the match but they took the lead in the 21st minute. Modric shot from outside the box, Rubén Martínez couldn’t keep the ball and Bale scored after a poor control by Benzema.

After the first goal, everything went easier. Marcelo assisted in the 27th minute and Casemiro only had to tap the ball in. Before the first half of the game, Los Blancos already had a good gap in the scoreboard. With this comfortable result, the match arrived to the half time.

The second half started very slow. Los Blancos didn’t have the punch and the pace to close the game and Deportivo La Coruña started to believe that they could get some points in the game. However, in the 62nd minute, the game was over. Gareth Bale passed the ball behind and Toni Kroos scored the third one in a classic one from the German player.

After the third goal, Zidane gave some rest to Isco and Asensio came in. There was also time for Marcos Llorente to make his season debut replacing Casemiro. Gareth Bale, who played another poor game, was also substituted by Lucas Vázquez. Asensio again showed his quality in a free quick but Rubén saved it brilliantly. Just two minutes later, Carvajal committed penalty, but Andone missed it because of a great save by Keylor Navas, again perfect below the bar. The game finished with Sergio Ramos sent off in the last minute, so he’ll miss the match against Valencia for an unnecessary fault.

Los Blancos didn’t have any problems to get the first three points of the season and they are already leading the table. Everything looks perfect in this start of the new year.

Los Blancos showed their superiority and even Gerard Piqué admitted their defeat: “For the first time in nine years, I feel inferior to Real Madrid”, the captain said. One of the main protagonist of the game was Marco Asensio.

In the first leg, Zidane introduced very important substitutions in the second half: Cristiano Ronaldo, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vázquez. They made the difference and scored the last two goals of the game. In the meantime, FC Barcelona have Lucas Digne, Denis Suárez or Paco Alcácer on the bench. This is the main difference between the two giants.

Three years ago, both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were fighting for Marco Asensio, a young player who was highlighting in the Second Division with Mallorca. Los Blancos agreed Mallorca’s terms and they paid around €5M for the transfer fee immediately. Only three years later and after a successful loan at Espanyol, Asensio is one of the greatest stars in Europe.

With his goal at the Spanish Supercup, Asensio has been able to score in his debut with Real Madrid in the European Supercup, Spanish Supercup, La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey. The midfielder is breaking all the records and he’s now one of the favourite players of the supporters.

Zinedine Zidane won his sixth title as Real Madrid manager after beating again FC Barcelona (2-0) in the second leg of the Spanish Supercup. The coach was very happy in press conference and he wanted to highlight his players and their mentality to touch all this silverware.

“We deserve what the players are doing. There is talent, but also a lot of work. These two trophies against great teams aren’t easy. Behind there is willingness to get things. This team is hungry. Starting like this is very good, but a long season is about to start. It’s not easy, but we are ready for the challenge”, Zidane spoke after winning El Clásico.

The coach was asked about the key factors to win FC Barcelona: “There are a lot of keys. We’ve done two great games. The first half today was superb. We put a lot of intensity. We are happy, with one more trophy”.

According to the French manager, Real Madrid can win everything with these players: “We have a great squad and when we change things, we didn’t notice. We removed Isco, who was doing great games, but this is very long with more than 65 games. If you make three or four changes, the team doesn’t change, so we have to be grateful”.

After winning all these titles, Real Madrid are favourites in the season: “It’s not this way. It’s not fachade. It will be long and tough. We haven’t won. We are going to fight La Liga until the end, like last season. We know it”.

Zidane said that the cycle is over: “I’m happy for starting like this, winning titles with these players. We finished a cycle with this Supercup and we start now a new one with four titles, that it will be very complicated”.

Finally, he was asked about Marco Asensio, who scored another great goal: “Not only Asensio is doing great things, the group wants to keep winning. I enjoy what it’s happening. I like football and when I see this kind of goal I enjoy it”, he finished.

Real Madrid won the second title of the season after beating again (2-0) FC Barcelona in the second leg of the Spanish Supercup. Los Blancos were much better in both games and they show they gap between the two giants right now. Marco Asensio and Benzema were the two goalscorers of the game.

Zinedine Zidane surprised with the line-up leaving Isco, Casemiro and Bale on the bench, with Asensio and Lucas Vázquez in the line-up. Obviously, he made the right choices as Real Madrid played a great first half.

The game couldn’t start better for Los Blancos. If Barcelona were desperate to score and try a new comeback, Marco Asensio invented a great shot from outside the box to the angle to put the first goal in the scoreboard in the 4th minute. Barcelona tried harder and they arrive with a lot of danger to Keylor Navas goal, but they weren’t able to tie the game.

Actually, the best chances arrived for Los Blancos and Lucas Vázquez hit the post in the 32nd minute. Zidane’s side had the ball, showed all the skills and feel much better than the rival. Modric, Lucas and Asensio were the best players on the pitch. With this superiority, Benzema found the net in the 39th minute, certifying a great first half. It was the best end for a great first half performance.

In the second half, Piqué was substituted because he had some physical problems and Messi replied with a clear chance, hitting the bar. However, FC Barcelona didn’t try a comeback and they seemed quite lost at Bernabéu stadium. They need some signings in the end of the summer transfer window if they want to compete with Los Blancos after Neymar departure. It wasn’t their day and Luis Suárez hit again the bar after a couple of great saves from Keylor Navas.

The game died without many chances at the end because Los Blancos were already celebrating the title in the halftime. All are good news for Zidane in this start of the season.

Real Madrid didn’t spend a lot of money in this transfer market and they are not acting as the main protagonist this summer. Actually, the club sold very important players –Álvaro Morata, James Rodríguez, Danilo or Mariano Díaz-, but Florentino Pérez didn’t sign his Galáctico yet. The new acquisitions –Marcos Llorente. Theo Hernández, Jesús Vallejo or Dani Ceballos– have a difficult role in the team, at least in the beginning of the season.

The level showed at the end of the last season is having continuity in the first official games in August. Real Madrid won the European Supercup and beat FC Barcelona away with the same players who were able to win the Champions League and La Liga. Zinedine Zidane trusts his footballers and it will be very difficult for the new signings to have minutes in the team.

For instance, Marcos Llorente wasn’t included in the list of the first leg of the Spanish Supercup and he couldn’t even be on the bench at Camp Nou despite Modric’s absence. Both Marcos Llorente and Dani Ceballos started later to train with the team, so they have less opportunities to start also in El Clásico tonight.

Besides, Zidane has confidence in Mateo Kovacic, who played a great game at Camp Nou replacing Luka Modric. The manager flattered the Croatian midfielder in press conference and he was able to cover Leo Messi with succeed. Therefore, Kovacic could be his first option for the midfield, leaving Llorente and Ceballos with less options in the team.

If we speak about the attacking line, obviously, Lucas Vázquez and Marco Asensio are the first choices. Dani Ceballos, who is a playmaker, should be Isco’s or Kross’ substitute, but Zidane can easily change the formation to play with Vázquez or Asensio in the wings.

In the defense line, Marcelo was able to rest during the summer and he is the owner of the left wing. Theo Hernández has to be patient and wait for an opportunity when the Brazilian defender feels the fatigue of the games. The same applies for Jesús Vallejo, who faces great competition with Sergio Ramos, Varane and Nacho. For this reason, right now all four signings have very little opportunities to enjoy many minutes. The team is playing great, so they’ll have to wait on the bench for eventual opportunities.

Last season there was a lot of controversy because Coentrao had played more minutes in the Champions League than Isco until the final stages of the competition. The playmaker arouse in the last months of the season, becoming a key player in the success of the team, even playing the Champions League final against Juventus.

In this new season, his role is becoming even more important. James Rodríguez departure left Isco less competition in his role. Besides, Morata and Mariano also left the club, so there are less players in the attacking line to compete with the BBC. The team is also performing better with the 4-4-2, so the midfield is becoming the most important part of the squad, with Isco as the general of the team.

The former Málaga player showed off against FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Supercup (1-3) and Zidane insisted in press conference that it was almost impossible to steal him the ball. Perhaps, he will be one of the most important players of the new season as his importance is growing in the team. Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference with Dani Carvajal before the second leg of the Spanish Supercup. Los Blancos got a great result (1-3) at Camp Nou but they have to finish off their rival to touch silverware for the second time this season. The manager won’t have Cristiano Ronaldo because the Portuguese was banned five games for pushing the referee after seeing the red card for diving.

Zidane spoke about this sanction in the press conference: “I’m annoyed, we are very annoyed. I’m not going to speak badly about the referees but we you look and after what happened, thinking that Cristiano won’t play the next five games… There is something, I’m bothered. It’s a lot”.

Despite the sanction, Zidane doesn’t see a black hand pulling the strings: “I don’t know, I hope it’s not the case. At the end, I stay with the five games”, the manager said.

About the game, Zidane doesn’t discard a comeback from Barcelona: “Everything can happen. In football is never over when there is a second leg ,we have to play and do it great. Barcelona is a good team that can put you in difficulties in any moment, I don’t have any doubt. In the first leg they had chances, we have to play a good game, we have to play until the end to win”.

The manager is very happy about the performance of the team so far: “I expected to work good early. In the tour we got ready for this, for the 8th of August, and then we played great that day and we won with personality. It was all the work during the tour, there the results weren’t great but it was the content. Now that we start the season we are happy, but this is very long and we have to work on a daily basis”.

Zidane was asked about what he is most proud of so far: “Everything they’ve done. Arriving here is not easy. We have a lot of talent and a lot of work behind, so I stay with the good work done by the players and my staff”.

The manager was also asked about Bale and Marco Asensio: “Both are working very well. We want to work well. Then, we are going to have a lot of games, a lot of changes, different teams every year… But we get ready, so the one that play, do it well”.
