Real Madrid defender Pepe has said Cristiano Ronaldo is as happy as ever despite a goalscoring drought by his standards.

The 30-year-old went three games without scoring but ended that run when he found the net in the 2-0 win over Schalke on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.

And Pepe said the rest of the squad was pleased to see their talisman back to scoring ways, but the player himself has been totally unaffected by an indifferent form he may have been going through.

Speaking to the Real Madrid website, Pepe, who recently made his comeback following an injury layoff, said:”Cristiano is like he is always, happy and encouraging his team-mates. That is what we want from him, for him to transmit that happiness within the dressing room. I’m content with his continuous work to help out his team-mates. We are delighted for him that he has scored again.

“He knows he is playing for Real Madrid and is aware of the pressure that entails, but we are by his side.”

The Portugal defender also had words of encouragement for Lucas Silva after a good performance against the Bundesliga side.

“Lucas Silva has really surprised me, he has a lot of quality. He has come to help us but we have to show patience because we know that this is Real Madrid. He will be talked about a lot in the future because he is a very humble guy, he has his feet on the ground and he likes to work.”
