Ramon Calderon: Sergio Ramos is unhappy at Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has had his said on the Sergio Ramos situation, saying the defender is unhappy with the club.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days, with the Red Devils reportedly planning a cash plus David de Gea swap for the World Cup, European Championship and Champions League winner.

Ramos has two years remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and had been keen to extend his time in the Spanish capital. But president Florentino Perez has so far refused to move Ramos up the pay scale so he is in line with the higher earners in the squad such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Iker Casillas.

Speaking to talkSport, Calderon stated: “It is clear that he is unhappy because the president has refused to extend his contract. I find it like a punishment because he supported Carlo Ancelotti publicly, he said it was a mistake to sack him, and he is also backing Iker Casillas. Let us see what happens in the next few weeks. It is going to be very exciting to know what is happening. If Sergio goes to Man United, they will be very lucky.”

  1. My point of view Is he’s one of the tallest defenders but gets beat easily in the air from a corner and always get red cards in the game’s we need him the most.so if he wane go let him there is Mat hummels to replace him

    • Actually Ramos is one of the best defenders in the world if not the best, not many players can jump over him. He does get some silly cards every now and then… Matt Hummels doesn’t even compare to hi. I’ll hummels 1 Ramos over 25 Hummels. He’s a slow defender and an injury prone.madrid can’t get a better defender than Ramos that’s why I believe he’s staying in the white house

  2. It will be best for the Real Madrid’s “family” interest to solve this matter in fair and respectful way. I understand we talking business but one can be human and fair to promote loyalty and harmony. The president should evaluate the case with his board and come up with a decent solution. The club should be the winner not the ego or personal interest of anyone. We can not let go players that can help the team win every season and find new ones. It’s absurd.

  3. Shandon you’re right he can go, out there’s people like hummel or atamendi are waiting.I don’t think that the president will forgive him look at where higuain and de maria is to understand what am saying.
