Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are in talks over the possible transfer of Marco Reus as Los Blancos lead the chase for his signature, according to reports.

BeIn Sports claims Real are ready to battle it out with fierce rivals Barcelona for the German’s signature. As well as the two Spanish giants, a host of Premier League clubs are interested in signing the midfielder, including Liverpool, who had identified him as the perfect replacement for Raheem Sterling who left for Manchester City.

According to the report, the 10-time Champions League winners are willing to match the 50 million euro asking price for Reus. The playmaker struggled with injury last season but still netted 11 goals in 29 appearances.

Since joining Dortmund in 2012, the 26-year-old has scored 53 times in 119 games. He missed out on Germany’s World Cup triumph in Brazil last summer through injury though.

Los Blancos have been linked with Reus in the past and although the have a host of attacking options at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Dortmund man is seen as one of the hottest properties in European football.

Should he sign for the club, it would almost certainly spell the end for Denis Cheryshev, who was loaned to Villarreal last season and has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
