Real Madrid have announced in the official website the elections for club president and board directors, that should take place at the end of the summer if there is more than one candidate. The presentation of candidacies can be made from the 9th of June until the 18th of June. However, it is very unlikely that someone dares to present his candidacy against Florentino Pérez.
After this period of time, if there are two candidates or more, the Electoral Board will make public the date and the place of voting. In 2013, Real Madrid also announced elections but Florentino Pérez didn’t have any rival. Florentino Pérez started as a president in 2000, when he won the elections to Lorenzo Sanz, who had previously won the Champions League in Paris against Valencia.
Florentino Pérez decided to resign after a couple of bad season with the Galácticos team. However, he came back the 1st of June 2009. Since then, Florentino Pérez has had no rival in the presidency and everybody expects him to continue as the leader of the club.
The current president change the club and made it the richest football club in the world. He modernise the club, improving the economic and marketing areas. Besides, he has been able to bring Real Madrid all over the world and he has built a very strong brand. Now, Florentino Pérez is working in the refurbishment of the stadium and he will render Santiago Bernabéu in one of the best stadiums in the world.
In the sports area, Florentino Pérez is also living the most successful period in his career. He’s been able to lead the club in the last four years, winning three Champions League. It was very controversial his decision of not renewing Carlo Ancelotti’s contract only one year after of lifting the Champions League trophy in Lisbon. Florentino signed Rafa Benítez, but the boss sacked him only 6 months after. Now, Florentino Pérez trusts Zidane, the “best coach of the world”.
