Seria A champions and Champions League finalists Juventus have announced the signing of Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira on a four-year deal.

The 28-year-old announced a couple of months ago that he would not be renewing his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu as he wanted a fresh challenge after five year at Los Blancos.

Much speculation has been written about his future, with a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United linked with the World Cup winner. Bayern Munich and Fiorentina were others strongly linked with him.

But in a statement on the club’s website, Juventus announced the capture of the Germany star.

It read: “Juventus Football Club has today completed the signing of Sami Khedira. The 28-year-old, who will officially join from Real Madrid on a free transfer on 1 July 2015, has agreed terms on a four-year contract which expires on 30 June 2019.”

Khedira joined Real from Stuttgart after the 2010 World Cup. In his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. But a number of injuries have seen him play few matches in the last couple of campaigns. The arrival of countryman Toni Kroos and the form of Luka Modric meant his first team opportunities would be limited.
