Many Real Madrid players were nominated to win the Golden Ball. The votes of the 173 journalists of L’Equipe and France Football decided to give the 2016 Ballon D’Or to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese Real Madrid star won last season the Champions League with Real Madrid and he was also the Portugal’s captain in the Euro Cup played at France that won Ronaldo’s national team. This is the result of all Real Madrid players who were nominated to win this trophy.

Cristino Ronaldo: The Portuguese star won his fourth Golden Ball with 745 votes. A very huge amount of votes if we compare them with the ones Lionel Messi had (316), being the second classified. Cristiano Ronaldo has made an incredible season winning two important titles as the Champions League and Euro Cup. The Portuguese striker has scored in the last year 35 goals in the regular season and 16 in Champions League.

Gareth Bale: The Welshman finished sixth in the classification for the Golden Ball. Despite his great year with Real Madrid and his amazing performance in the last Euro Cup being the most important player of Wales, Gareth Bale finished behind Neymar, Luis Suárez, Messi and Griezmann. Gareth Bale scored last year 19 goals in La Liga and three goals in the Euro Cup where they arrived until the semifinals.

Pepe: Pepe finished ninth in the classification. The Portuguese full back made a very complete season winning two important titles like Cristiano Ronaldo. Pepe was one of the best players in the last Euro, being included in the best starting 11 of the tournament. The Real Madrid full back received eight points from the journalists.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos: Both Real Madrid midfielders only received one point. The Croatian midfielder did a very good Euro and he was one of the best Real Madrid players last season. Kroos also played a good season but he did not play as well as in Real Madrid with Germany in the Euro.

Sergio Ramos did not receive any vote from the journalists. Despite the importance of his goal in the Champions League final, the bad performance in the Euro has been very important in the final result.
