Real Madrid ended up the year with only 100 goals, 42 less than last year or 56 less than 2017. It’s the lower number in the decade, in the first complete year without Cristiano Ronaldo. Obviously, the team is missing the Portuguese striker but it’s time to move forward and look for solutions. The Winter transfer market won’t be the solution though because Zinedine Zidane closed the door to a new arrival.

“Absolutely not. I don’t see necessary to sign a striker”, Zizou said in press conference after the second game in a row without scoring a goal. Only one goal in three games, very poor stats for a team who want to win everything in 2020.

The manager tried to explain the problems with the goal: “No bad luck, the important thing is to create chances. We made so many chances.. and we are going to keep going, it’s going to go in. Now we are not scoring but we shouldn’t lose the moral, we have to think that this year was good in everything. We ended up not so good but we are looking forward to starting 2020”, Zizou commented.

Taking in consideration the problems with the goal, it’s difficult to understand why Mariano Díaz doesn’t have any chance this season. The Dominican striker has always given everything to the team, but hasn’t played so far with Zizou. Hazard and James Rodríguez injuries also do not help to improve the stats.

However and despite losing the points, the feelings are not so negative. “I’m bothered because of my players, because they did a great game. They worked very well and gave more than 100%. I cannot complain about anything. I’m happy about the evolution of the team. We had a tough start, but we are improving a lot. Defensively we are good, and we are going to change the thing about the goal in 2020”.
