Alvaro Morata to sign for Arsenal

Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata will complete his move to FA Cup winners Arsenal in next few days, according to reports in Spain.

Lainformacion.com said the two clubs have agreed a 10 million euro fee, while the player himself is happy with the terms on offer at the Emirates Stadium side. The paper claimed Real Madrid have insisted on a buy-back clause that would allow them to resign Morata in the next two years, if that is something both parties would be interested in.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout for a forward having only had Olivier Giroud as his recognised front man last season. There have been reports in Spain that the deal for Morata was agreed some time ago, with only minor details to iron out in recent days.

Italian champions Juventus were interested in Morata, and the player was also linked with a move to Tottenham Hostpur. But it is believed the chance to get regular first team football and Wenger’s faith and experience in developing young players into world class talent persuaded Morata to move to north London.

The 22-year-old was fell behind Jese Rodriguez in the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, and was largely used off the bench this season. He still chipped in with six goals despite his lack of playing time though.

  1. I hope its not true because hes a step down from giroud wow only 6 goals hows he guna score in rhe bpl hardest league in world

  2. Alavaro is very good, but Giroud is recently demonstrating that he’s a beast. Next year Giroud will only get better… Alvaro? This is a nice back up pick up, but he’s not yet the solution for Arsenal. Man, only the big clubs trade within themselves. How are Tottenham and Sociedad supposed to compete?

  3. I’m not sure if the commentators above have watched Morata closely. Everytime I have seen him play for Madrid, he does not inspire confidence. 6 goals for Madrid and suddenly he will be GREAT for Arsenal. People talking through their arses again.
What we need is a brilliant striker in the mould of a Falcao, Cavani who can get the goals that Giroud can’t with his terrible lack of pace and his heavy touch on the ball. Also Remy on the wing and as a second striker would be fine. He has proven himself.
When Morata starts getting heavy tackles in the PL he will wish he were still in Spain.
Morata, no thank you. Mr Wenger, cut out your bullshit experiments as usual and bust the bank for, in your words, “a top top striker who will make a difference”.]
I also rate Cambell as a second striker who is still our player.
