Zinedine Zidane said in press conference after Santiago Bernabéu Trophy that the squad was closed. However, there are still some days left until the end of the transfer market and some players are not happy with their situation at Real Madrid.

James Rodríguez has still the door opened to leave the club if a good offer arrives to Bernabéu. But the Colombian is not the only midfielder who can leave the club in the next few days. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Mateo Kovacic is the first option of Milan to reinforce the midfield.

The Croatian midfielder has been an important player in this pre-season for Zidane. Kovacic even played in the first official game of the season against Sevilla in the European Supercup and did a good performance. However, last season Zidane wasn’t very happy with his performance and Kovacic had very few opportunities during La Liga.

For this reason, Kovacic is still opened to the possibility of leaving the club. He played really well with his former team, Inter Milan, so he has still good prestige in Serie A. Some reports said that Juventus or Inter Milan were interested in the player but recently Milan has shown their intention to sign the Croatian.

The ‘rossonero’ team made official this week the signing of José Ernesto Sosa. Now, Galliani is working to bring Diawara (Bologna) or Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid) to San Siro. Milan can offer a loan deal to Real Madrid, so the player could come back to Bernabéu after the current season. Another option would be signing a deal similar to the one of Morata with Juventus, so Milan could buy Kovacic with a ‘buy back’ clause for Real Madrid.

Kovacic is only 22 years old, so he has still a lot of potential to become a great player. In his first season at Real Madrid, the midfielder played 25 games in La Liga but only 8 in the starting eleven without scoring any goal. In his last season at Inter Milan, Kovacic scored 5 goals in 35 appearances in Serie A.
