Iker Casillas has admitted he was angry with former boss Carlo Ancelotti over how he was treated during the Italian’s first season at the club.

The Real captain had to make do with a bit-part role, featuring in the Copa del Rey and Champions League, as Ancelotti continued on from Jose Mourinho’s preference to play Diego Lopez between the sticks.

Casillas was returned to the number one role this season, but following the sacking of Ancelotti, has admitted he was frustrated and the pair did not always see eye to eye.

Speaking to Cadena Ser, the World Cup winner stated: “It is a demanding club and the president and the board have made the best decision. But I thank Carlo for what he has done for me, even though last year I was angry because he did not play me much. He is a noble person and I wish him well. Madrid will always be his home.”

The 34-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, then spoke of his desire to remain a Los Blancos player.

“I am sure that I will continue here next season. Sure. I can’t imagine I will not be at the club next season. I want to finish my career here. If things were not working I would have to leave, but now I feel good and I am strong. I will face the coming season as if it were my first here, that’s my challenge.”

Gareth Bale has broken his silence over his future and says he will still be at Real Madrid next season.

Speculation has surrounded the forward for the past few weeks with the Welshman coming under fire from fans and the media in the Spanish capital. Some reports have suggested the 25-year-old is keen on a move back to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea ready to pounce.

But the forward, who scored the winning goal in the Copa del Rey final last season, as well as the crucial second goal in the Champions League final, took to social media to clarify his position – he wants to stay in Spain.

Bale admitted the 2014-15 campaign hadn’t ended as the players had hoped, but they will work hard over the summer and come back stronger ready to fight for the major honours.

“Not the end of the season we had hoped for, we always want to win trophies,” he wrote. And he added: “Will be working hard in the off season and looking forward to coming back next season stronger with Real Madrid. #HalaMadrid.”

Real ended their campaign with a 7-3 win over Getafe at the weekend, and on Monday the club announced boss Carlo Ancelotti had been fired.

Media outlets in the UK and Spain are reporting one of the more predictable non-transfers you’ll read about this summer – Real Madrid have decided not to take up the option to sign Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican striker spent the 2014-15 season on loan from Manchester United but found regular first team football hard to come by at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He arrived on transfer deadline day last summer, shortly after Madrid had sold Alvaro Morata to Juventus. The Spaniard had grown frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities and Real were on the look out for an experienced striker who could do a job in the absence of regular trio Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema.

In total, Chicharito, as he is know, scored nine goals in 33 appearances for Los Blancos. Undoubtedly, his personal highlight would be netting the last minute winner in the tense Champions League quarter final against city rivals Atletico de Madrid.

The 27-year-old will now return to Manchester where his future is uncertain. United will need to reinforce their attacking options having decided not to keep Radamel Falcao, but Hernandez’ future almost certainly lies away from Old Trafford. Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are believed to be leading the chase for his signature.

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe. La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported Los Blancos have been eyeing 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma, who currently plays for AC Milan.

The Italian pearl has recently impressed many in the European Under-17 Championship as his team make it to the quarter-finals, where they lost to champions France. Donnarumma put in some good performances and has caught the attention of many European giants.

La Gazzetta has claimed Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing him for their reserves team.

However, the youngster has a running contract with Milan until 2018 and he’s expected to become a member of the first team next year as the third goalkeeper, which would be more attractive for him than playing in a reserve team elsewhere.

Donnarumma has not made his professional debut yet, although Filippo Inzaghi included him in the squad for a league match when he was 15 years old. Yet, he spent the whole game sitting in the bench.

Real Madrid have some other promising goalkeepers in their youth teams, such as Luca Zidane or Augusto Batalla. However, they will keep following the progression Donnarumma, as many claim he will be the next Gianluigi Buffon.

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has lavished praise on former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian was relieved from his post on Monday after the club’s failure to win either La Liga or the Champions League this season. Just 12 months ago, the scenes in the Spanish capita were joyous as Real ended their 12-year wait for the Champions League – their 10th one.

Ancelotti also enjoyed other notable successes in his two years at the club, including lifting the Copa del Rey, the European Super Cup and World Club Cup.

Speaking to the press ahead of La Roja’s upcoming fixtures, del Bosque, a former Real manager himself, said Ancelotti had done great things for Spanish football.

“Both personally and professionally, Ancelotti was a man who left his mark on Spanish football. “I can’t comment on his dismissal, it’s a matter for the club who made the decision. I’m the least appropriate person to [comment],” he said.

With Madrid-born Rafa Benitez set to be announced as Ancelotti’s successor, del Bosque was also asked to comment the situation.

“It’s not my decision to say whether Rafa Benitez is the right man to coach Real Madrid, but he’s one of the best,” del Bosque said.

Martin Odegaard has admitted he felt nervous during his debut for the Real Madrid first team.

The teenager became the youngest player to make his debut for Real Madrid in a La Liga match in the 7-3 win over Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu. He replaced star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who had scored another hat trick to register his 61st goal of another incredible season.

The 16-year-old, who arrived at Los Blancos in the winter transfer window, has been playing for Zinedine Zidane in the Real Madrid Castilla side until now. But with the final game of the campaign having no outcome on where Real would finish in the league, manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to give the Norwegian his first experience of playing in front of the Bernabeu crowd.

Odegaard looked confident, and completed all of his 17 passes during his cameo. But he told the club’s official website he was nervous.

“I was a little bit nervous about playing in front of so many people, but I tried to enjoy the moment,” he commented.

And he added: “It’s a special day, I feel very proud and very happy. I’ve had a really good time in my first season at Real Madrid and I’ve felt very comfortable.”

Real Madrid coach Paul Clement is expected to leave the club to take his first manager role at Derby County, according to reports in the UK press.

The 43-year-old worked as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant for two years at the Santiago Bernabeu but will end his stint at the club after the Italian was sacked on Monday. The former PE teacher has made no secret of his desire to step up and be a manager one day and is believed to been keen on taking the Derby job and take them up from the Championship to the Premier League.

Ex-England boss Steve McClaren left the Rams this week after his failure to gain promotion to the top flight.

Clement worked at Chelsea under Guus Hiddink and stayed on when Ancelotti took over. The Englishman became Ancelotti’s right hand man at the club as they won the double before going with him to PSG where they won the title. His most glorious moment as a coach came last year when Los Blancos ended their 12-year wait for the Champions League, as well as winning the Copa del Rey.

Clement, son of former QPR defender Dave, and brother of ex-West Brom defender Neil, has been linked with a number of jobs back in England including that of Rangers and Newcastle.

Real Madrid players Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez have been included in UEFA’s Best XI of La Liga in the 2014-2015 season. The Portuguese and they Colombian have been the best players of the Madrid club this season, and their effort has been rewarded.

UEFA has picked Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo as the best goalkeeper. The defenders included in the team were Barcelona’s Gerad Pique and Daniel Alves and Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi and Jose Luis Gaya.

In midfield, James Rodriguez has shared this honour with Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak and former Los Blancos footballer Daniel Parejo, now at Valencia. Ronaldo, Leo Messi and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann have been picked as the best forwards of the season.

This is not the last recognition Ronaldo will receive this year. The Portuguese scored a total 61 goals in the season, becoming La Liga’s top scorer with 48 goals in the league. He has been the clear winner of the Golden Shoe, which he will receive next season.

James Rodriguez has also shined in his first season as a Los Merengues player. The Colombia international has provided 18 assists and scored 17 goals, becoming a crucial piece for Carlo Ancelotti. In fact, the team had serious trouble while he was injured.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has hailed his side’s La Liga triumph and said lifting the title feels even better this year because Los Cules finished ahead of one of Real Madrid’s best teams in years.

The Catalans clinched the title last weekend with their win at Atletico de Madrid and were presented with the trophy after their 2-2 draw with Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

For much of the campaign, Barcelona looked to be playing catch up, particularly in the autumn as Los Blancos embarked on their remarkable 22-game winning run. But the tables were turned during the spring, when Real stuttered, and Barcelona were relentless in their quest to overtake their fierce rivals.

Speaking after the final day of the campaign, Enrique said: “One cannot win a league without being the most regular – in our case, with great numbers and showing a great level during the whole year.

“Obviously there have been good and bad moments – it can’t be any other way – but you can’t say it’s been a normal season when you win the league. We have had a really good season, even better when you think that this has been the best Real Madrid of the last few years, and they have fought for the league until the penultimate week, always making things difficult for us. And that’s maybe why we value it even more.”

Luka Modric

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has said he is sad to see Carlo Ancelotti leave the club adding that he played his best football under him.

The Italian was relieved of his duties on Monday afternoon after Florentino Perez and the rest of the board decided the 55-year-old should pay the price for not winning La Liga or the Champions League.

Ancelotti’s departure has angered many fans who believe he was doing a good job for the club and also brought about a period of calm following Jose Mourinho’s chaotic running of the European giants.

The former AC Milan, Chelsea and PSG boss was popular with the players, many of whom have taken to social media to wish him well.

And speaking to reporters, Croatian playmaker Modric joined those in praising the former Real manager.

“All I can say is that he is a great coach and person. I’ve played my best football under him. He trusted me from day one. Sometimes, although you don’t win trophies, it does not mean you’re no good. Our season has been very bad if you look at the results, but this is the thing: either you win or you fail, there is no middle ground,” he stated.

He added: “Maybe it is unfair for the coach or players, but it may be the key to success at Madrid. If we had not had such bad luck with injuries, it could have been different. It is frustrating for me not having won La Liga yet. It is the only trophy that I have not won with Madrid, but we will do our best to win it next season.”
