Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur may make a loan move for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata in the January transfer window in a bid to solve their goalscoring crisis, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

The White Hart Lane club was mauled 6-0 by Manchester City at the weekend, leaving Andre Villas Boas’ troops in ninth place in the league. Gareth Bale’s former club has struggled for goals this campaign in the league, having scored just 9 in their 12 games to date, despite spending heavily on attacking players such as Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen.

Spurs were believed to have made a move for Morata in the summer as part of the Bale deal, but Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti was keen to keep  the Spain Under-21 striker in his squad having sold Argentinean forward Gonzalo Higuain.

The paper reported Morata is keen to experience more regular first team football and would be willing to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on loan to help his development. Spurs boss Villas Boas wants to get Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe off the books at the north London club, freeing up space for another striker to come in.

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has made Real Madrid’s shortlist for the January transfer window after a stop-start season at the San Siro.

The 23 year-old has been in appalling form for the struggling Serie A side and Los Blancos’ search for a forward has become well-documented.

According to Corriere della Sera the Spanish side have joined Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in the hunt for the Italian international, should they be presented the opportunity in January.

Speculation about the strikers future has been rife following some disconcerting Twitter posts made following Milan’s 1-1 draw with Genoa, a game where Balotelli missed only the second penalty of his professional career.

The former Inter and Manchester City starlet would be the first Italian to grace the Santiago Bernabeu in the white kit since the great Fabio Cannavaro.

On the back of scoring Real Madrid’s final goal in the 5-0 defeat of Almeria on Saturday, Spain under-21 striker Alvaro Morata told the club’s official website of his gratitude towards manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The 21 year-old, who has already notched up eleven appearances so far this season, after he made a total of 15 last year, said: “I’m doing well and I’m grateful for the confidence the coach and the coaching staff have in me. I get a chance to score every time I play and, though I wasn’t lucky before, I was this time and I’m happy.”

Morata also believes the team, and himself, will continue to improve as the season goes on: “We’re understanding each other better little by little. There are several new players and we’re playing better every day.

“There are many teammates who always talk to me and give me a lot of advice. I try to learn from them all. I keep learning and I’m very happy every time I play in this shirt,” he added.

The Spaniard also downplayed worries over Cristiano Ronaldo’s fitness, after the Los Blancos star left the match early: “It’s normal that he’s tired after the performance the other day [against Sweden]. He’s the best player in the world but he’s a normal person and he needs to take a break sometimes.”

Spain’s most sold newspaper Marca publishes today an interview with Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano, who claims “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best.”

“This year’s Ballon d’Or should be for him,” Di Stefano said. “He is such a phenomenon, a number one, an extraordinary footballer,” he added.

Los Blancos’ president of honour also gave his opinion about the team’s start to the season: “Xabi Alonso’s come back has normalised the situation”, he told Marca.

The Madrid daily also highlights that Ronaldo will not play against Galatasaray as a measure of precaution due to his physical problems. “He is a doubt for La Liga’s match next Saturday,” they point out.

Meanwhile, As brings to its front page Frank Ribery’s words about the Ballon d’Or: “Cristiano might score more goals, but I set fire to defences,” the Frenchman stated.

PRISA’s sports paper main focus is on Manchester City showing an interest in signing Los Merengues’ captain. “City want Iker Casillas,” they title. “Florentino Perez met the British club owner on Sunday,” they claim.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Real Madrid is even bigger than he thought before he took the job, after six months as manager of Los Blancos.

The 54-year-old has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Juventus, Milan and Chelsea, but even Ancelotti is astounded by Real Madrid’s stature.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the head coach said “Living in a club like Real Madrid is very different from how you think it will be from outside. I have always thought that it is a prestigious club with a lot of history and tradition, but experiencing it from inside is different.”

He added that being in charge of such big clubs means you have to expect media attention wherever you go, “Everyone says that Real Madrid is the most prestigious club in the world and it is true because every time we go to a hotel or an airport, the fans are right behind the team and the club,” Ancelotti stated.

As well as speaking glowingly about his experience of managing Real Madrid to date, he also discussed his love of Madrid as a city and compared it to Rome. “It is a city with a very similar culture to what you see in Italian cities. I would compare it to Rome because of its history.  It is very different to London or Paris. People here like to talk, share, greet each other and socialise more.”

Real Madrid full-back Daniel Carvajal has thanked Carlo Ancelotti for the chances, but admits concern at the growing injury list.

The 21-year-old played the whole 90 minutes in Los Blanco’s 5-0 thrashing of Almeria, where both Cristiano Ronaldo and Sami Khedira sustained injuries; the latter proving the more serious.

“We’re continually improving and getting better every day. It’s true that Barcelona is winning but it’s up to us to keep adding up three at a time,” Carvajal told Real Madrid’s website.

“We have the players to try out a lot of systems and the scoreboard reflects that. It was a good match and we kept a clean sheet”.

Carvajal returned to Spain after an excellent season in Germany with Bayern Leverkusen and he’s seen plenty of action under Ancelotti.

“The coach has given me a lot of confidence from day one. I’ve had a lot of minutes and I try to do my best so that he continues to trust me.”

On the double injury, the Spaniard claimed: “I think sustaining a dead-leg in that area hurts quite a bit and he [Ronaldo] went off as a precaution.

“Unfortunately we have several injured players. I want to send a special hug to Sami and I’m sure that he’ll be back with us soon.

“We have a big squad but we hope the injured players recover soon”. he concluded.

Real Madrid will be without the services of star man Cristiano Ronaldo for the next three weeks after the club confirmed he picked up a thigh injury in the 5-0 win over Almeria on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who scored his 25th goal for Los Blancos this campaign during the match, was replaced nine minutes into the second half. Speaking afterwards, he played down reports it was a serious injury, claiming it was just a knock. Manager Carlo Ancelotti also said Ronaldo would not be missing for long.

But tests carried out on Monday morning showed the Portugual international picked up a thigh problem and will be out for three weeks. The club also took the decision to give player a break to recover from other injuries and niggles he has been carrying.

A statement from the club said: After X-ray tests carried out today on our player Cristiano Ronaldo by Real Madrid’s medical services, an injury in his left thigh was detected. His return to action depends on the evolution of the injury.”

Ronaldo has also been carrying a toe injury that has limited his ability to train with both club and country over the past two weeks and has played a lot of football recently without a break.

The former Manchester United star will miss his side’s Copa del Rey clash with Olimpic de Xativa on December 7th through suspension having been sent off in last year’s final. He could be back in time for Los Blancos’ fixture at Osasuna a week later.

Carlo Ancelotti has implied that he would be willing to return to former team AC Milan.

The 54-year-old Italian has guided the Rossoneri at San Siro between 2001 and 2009 winning two Champions Leagues in 2003 and 2007 and one Serie A title in 2004.

The Italian manager has coached Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and now Los Merengues, but expressed that he wouldn’t mind rejoining his ex-team.

“A return to Milan? Why not?” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia. “I’d always say yes to Milan.”

Ancelotti went on to dismiss the idea that he would lead the Azzurri in the future since he would miss working with players on a regular basis.

“You never know what will happen, but right now I like coaching on a daily basis,” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.

Ancelotti also praised Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella for his style of play and personality.

“There are a lot of good coaches around right now, but personally speaking I do like Vincenzo Montella,” he enthused. “I like how his Fiorentina side play and I like how he deals with the media.”

Ancelotti discarded rumors that Xabi Alonso would leave Los Merengues despite interest from Juventus. “No, he’s happy with us and is too important for Real Madrid,” he said

Madrid sports daily As claims today that Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to rest against Galatasaray due to the physical problems he suffered against Almeria, when he had to be substituted in the second half.

“Sidelined out of precaution,” PRISA’s newspaper titles. “The Portuguese has decided not to force against Galatasaray to prevent a serious injury,” they state.

As also brings to its front page the fact that “Xabi Alonso turns 32 years old today” being “one step closer to a contract renewal with Real Madrid.”

Meanwhile, the other main Madrid sports paper, Marca, puts its focus today on Los Blancos’ youngsters, comparing this generation with the famous Quinta del Buitre.

“The sons of the Buitre,” they title. “30 years later, Real Madrid gives birth to another superb generation,” Marca claims.

The Madrid daily states “Carvajal, Illarramendi, Isco, Casemiro, Jese and Morata have shown they are a real alternative to Los Merengues’ world-class stars.”

Marca highlight Carlo Ancelotti’s words about these youth players: “They are ready to play in this team,” he told the press.
