Perez mismanagement cause of Real struggles – Calderon

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says current chief Florentino Perez has mismanaged the club this season which is the main reason behind all the troubles experienced by Los Blancos.

The 10-time Champions League winners have had an underwhelming campaign and go into today’s Clasico 10-points behind Barcelona in the league.

A number of high profile players including James Rodriguez, Isco, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have had up and down campaigns either suffering from injury or loss of form.

Real have experienced plenty of off-field issues this season too – they sacked Carlo Ancelotti last summer to hire Rafa Benitez but the Spaniard was shown the exit door just seven months later. Zinedine Zidane stepped up to the top job in January having managed Real Madrid Castilla.

The club was thrown out of the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player after the supposed-to-be-suspended Denis Cheryshev featured against Cadiz.

In addition, Real are facing a potential two-transfer window ban for breaching rules over the signing of youth players from overseas.

Speaking to AS, Calderon says the buck stops with Perez for all the struggles.

“The coach who they supported was sacked. They found themselves with another who arrived with his ‘firing notice’ on his forehead. Then they were brought a coach who was coming from the third division, whether he’s named Zidane or not. I believe the players have shown they are well above the level of their president,” he stated.

  1. Sometimes I question myself what is RAYMOND Calderon’s real intention is ? Yes, we all see that Real Madrid has been more or less poorly managed but his way to put the team struggle on the public while he can discuss those issues with the board of directors is awkward in my view.

  2. Hala madrid hala zidane… Now Madrid turns to dangerous monsters, the record breakers, the stoppers and the unstoppables.
