Porto have made a formal offer for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to Spain’s major broadcaster TVE.

The television station said the Portuguese outfit have presented Real with a formal written offer, and Los Blancos are keen to reach an agreement, paving the way for them to press ahead with the signing of David de Gea from Manchester United.

The report claims that Real would even be prepared to subsidise Casillas’ wages for the next two years should a move to Porto go through to ensure the 34-year-old doesn’t suffer any financial loss.

The club captain has spent 25 years at the club and 16 in the first team set up and has lead the side to a host of trophies in his time. He’s lifted the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercopa, European Super Cup and World Club Cup with his side. The shot stopper has also lifted the World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.

The impending arrival of de Gea has put Casillas’ future in doubt, and although he has said he would like to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until the end of his contract – in 2017 – his days in the Spanish capital look to be numbered.
