Real Madrid have officially announced that Sergio Ramos has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu for the next five seasons.

After many weeks of negotiations and rumours of a possible move to Manchester United, Los Blancos have finally agreed terms with the Spanish defender.

Ramos will earn between 8.5 and 10 million euros per season, depending on the objectives reached. He will be a Los Merengues player until the summer of 2020, when he will be 34 years old.

Real Madrid have published the following statement on their website:

Today, Monday 17 August, at 1:30pm CEST, an event will be held in the Santiago Bernabeu’s presidential box to mark Sergio Ramos’ contract renewal. Presiding over the event will be the Real Madrid president, Florentino PĂ©rez, and the player himself, who will remain at the club for the next five seasons.

The 29-year-old has played for Real during the last ten seasons, and he will reach 15 if he stays at the Santiago Bernabeu until his contract expires. Ramos has made 445 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 55 goals.
