Cristiano Ronaldo is a one-off player in terms of quality and professionalism, according to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Portuguese has come under fire in recent weeks for some perceived below-par performances, but his commitment and contribution to Real since he joined in 2009 can not be underestimated.

The 30-year-old Ballon d’Or holder played a key role in the success enjoyed by the club in the past year in which they won the Copa del Rey, Champions League, European Super Cup and World Club Cup. He has also helped the club to La Liga success, and set all sorts of goalscoring records along the way.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA.com. Ancelotti was asked about his star man, and responded by calling him a one-off.

A lot of people would be really surprised by him. As I’ve said many times before, he’s a player who’s a one-off in terms of professionalism and responsibility, even at this level. He was born with extraordinary talent, but he squeezes the juice from and works on that talent thanks to a level of drive I’ve seen in few other players,” he commented.

The Italian went on to add that there is very little difference between Ronaldo and Zidendine Zidane in his heyday.

“Zidane was the player I most enjoyed in training, but Ronaldo’s the one I enjoy most in matches – he scores in virtually every game!”
