Luka Modric rules out Real Madrid departure

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has ruled out a switch back to Premier League with Chelsea.

Reports have suggested new boss Jose Mourinho wants to raid his former club for the Croatian star.

But speaking to the Sun newspaper, Modric said he has no intention of leaving the Spanish capital for a move back to London, where he previously played for Tottenham Hotspur.

Modric, who signed for Los Merengues in the summer of 2012, said: “I’m not even thinking about the possibility I could leave Madrid this summer, but there is interest from other clubs.

“Every kid who plays football dreams about playing for Real Madrid. It was the same with me.”

He added that although he intends to stay in Madrid, he will miss Mourinho’s coaching methods.

“He is a fantastic coach and I am honoured to have worked with him,” he stated.
